(A)So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. And stooping to look in, he saw (B)the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and (C)the face cloth, which had been on Jesus'[a] head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself.

He bent over and looked in(B) at the strips of linen(C) lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head.(D) The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.
