“^(A)Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
And naked I shall return there.
The ^(B)Lord gave and the Lord has taken away.

⁶ For ^(A)disaster does not come from the dust,
Nor does trouble sprout from the ground,
⁷ For ^(B)man is born for trouble,
As sparks fly upward.

^15 (A)Though He slay me,
I will ^[a]hope in Him.
Nevertheless I ^(B)will argue my ways ^[b]before Him.

² “I know that ^(A)You can do all things,
And that no plan is impossible for You.
³ ‘Who is this who ^(B)conceals advice without knowledge?’
Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand,
Things ^(C)too wonderful for me, which I do not know.
⁴ ‘Please listen, and I will speak;
I will ^(D)ask You, and You instruct me.’
⁵ I have ^(E)heard of You by the hearing of the ear;
But now my ^(F)eye sees You;
⁶ Therefore I retract,
And I repent, sitting on dust and ashes.”
