21 Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi (A)read it to the king as well as to all the officials who were standing beside the king. 22 Now the king was sitting in the (B)winter house in the (C)ninth month, with a fire burning in the brazier before him. 23 And when Jehudi had read three or four columns, the king cut it with a scribe’s knife and (D)threw it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all of the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.

21 The king sent Jehudi(A) to get the scroll, and Jehudi brought it from the room of Elishama the secretary and read it to the king(B) and all the officials standing beside him. 22 It was the ninth month and the king was sitting in the winter apartment,(C) with a fire burning in the firepot in front of him. 23 Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll,(D) the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.(E)
