Isaiah 63:15-19

New International Version

¹⁵Look down from heaven^(A) and see,
    from your lofty throne,^(B) holy and glorious.
Where are your zeal^(C) and your might?
    Your tenderness and compassion^(D) are withheld^(E) from us.
¹⁶But you are our Father,^(F)
    though Abraham does not know us
    or Israel acknowledge^(G) us;
you, Lord, are our Father,
    our Redeemer^(H) from of old is your name.
¹⁷Why, Lord, do you make us wander^(I) from your ways
    and harden our hearts^(J) so we do not revere^(K) you?
Return^(L) for the sake of your servants,
    the tribes that are your inheritance.^(M)
¹⁸For a little while^(N) your people possessed your holy place,
    but now our enemies have trampled^(O) down your sanctuary.^(P)
¹⁹We are yours from of old;
    but you have not ruled over them,
    they have not been called^[a] by your name.^(Q)

Where are Your zeal and Your strength,
The yearning ^(C)of Your heart and Your mercies toward me?
Are they restrained?
¹⁶^(D)Doubtless You are our Father,
Though Abraham ^(E)was ignorant of us,
And Israel does not acknowledge us.
You, O Lord, are our Father;
Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.
¹⁷O Lord, why have You ^(F)made us stray from Your ways,
And hardened our heart from Your fear?
Return for Your servants’ sake,
The tribes of Your inheritance.
¹⁸^(G)Your holy people have possessed it but a little while;
^(H)Our adversaries have trodden down Your sanctuary.
¹⁹We have become like those of old, over whom You never ruled,
Those who were never called by Your name.
