Isaiah 66:5-14
New American Standard Bible
5 Hear the word of the Lord, you who (A)tremble at His word:
“Your brothers who (B)hate you, who (C)exclude you on account of My name,
Have said, ‘Let the Lord be glorified, so that we may see your joy.’
But (D)they will be put to shame.
6 A sound of uproar from the city, a voice from the temple,
The voice of the Lord who is (E)dealing retribution to His enemies.
7 “Before she was in labor, (F)she delivered;
Before her pain came, (G)she gave birth to a boy.
8 (H)Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things?
Can a land be [a]born in one day?
Can a nation be given birth all at once?
As soon as Zion was in labor, she also delivered her sons.
9 Shall I bring to the point of birth but (I)not give delivery?” says the Lord.
“Or shall I who gives delivery shut the womb?” says your God.
Joy in Jerusalem’s Future
10 “Be (J)joyful with Jerusalem and rejoice for her, all you who (K)love her;
Be exceedingly (L)glad with her, all you who mourn over her,
11 So that you may nurse and (M)be satisfied with her comforting breasts,
So that you may drink fully and be delighted with her (N)bountiful breasts.”
12 For this is what the Lord says: “Behold, I extend (O)peace to her like a river,
And the (P)glory of the nations like an overflowing stream;
And you will [b]be nursed, you will be (Q)carried on the [c]hip and rocked back and forth on the knees.
13 As one whom his mother comforts, so I will (R)comfort you;
And you will be comforted in Jerusalem.”
14 Then you will (S)see this, and your (T)heart will be glad,
And your (U)bones will flourish like the new grass;
And the (V)hand of the Lord will be made known to His servants,
But He will be (W)indignant toward His enemies.

New International Version
5 Hear the word of the Lord,
you who tremble at his word:(A)
“Your own people who hate(B) you,
and exclude you because of my name, have said,
‘Let the Lord be glorified,
that we may see your joy!’
Yet they will be put to shame.(C)
6 Hear that uproar from the city,
hear that noise from the temple!
It is the sound(D) of the Lord
repaying(E) his enemies all they deserve.
7 “Before she goes into labor,(F)
she gives birth;
before the pains come upon her,
she delivers a son.(G)
8 Who has ever heard of such things?
Who has ever seen(H) things like this?
Can a country be born in a day(I)
or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
Yet no sooner is Zion in labor
than she gives birth to her children.(J)
9 Do I bring to the moment of birth(K)
and not give delivery?” says the Lord.
“Do I close up the womb
when I bring to delivery?” says your God.
10 “Rejoice(L) with Jerusalem and be glad for her,
all you who love(M) her;
rejoice greatly with her,
all you who mourn(N) over her.
11 For you will nurse(O) and be satisfied
at her comforting breasts;(P)
you will drink deeply
and delight in her overflowing abundance.”(Q)
