18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

20 But ye have not so learned Christ;

21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Neither give place to the devil.

18 They are darkened in their understanding(A) and separated from the life of God(B) because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.(C) 19 Having lost all sensitivity,(D) they have given themselves over(E) to sensuality(F) so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.

20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off(G) your old self,(H) which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;(I) 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;(J) 24 and to put on(K) the new self,(L) created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.(M)

25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully(N) to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.(O) 26 “In your anger do not sin”[a]:(P) Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.(Q)
