6 “以下是耶和華你們的 神吩咐我教導你們的誡命、律例、典章，使你們在將要過去佔領為業的地上遵行， 2 好叫你和你的子子孫孫一生一世敬畏耶和華你的 神，遵守他的一切律例、誡命，就是我吩咐你的，使你的日子可以長久。 3 以色列啊，你要聽從，就謹守遵行，使你在流奶與蜜的地可以享福，人數大大增多，像耶和華你列祖的 神應許你的。
4 “以色列啊，你要聽，耶和華我們的 神是獨一的耶和華； 5 你要全心、全性、全力愛耶和華你的 神。 6 我今日吩咐你的這些話，都要記在你的心上；

The Greatest Commandment
6 “Now this is (A)the commandment—the statutes and the rules[a]—that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it, 2 that (B)you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and (C)that your days may be long. 3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, (D)as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
4 “Hear, O Israel: (E)The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[b] 5 You (F)shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And (G)these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
