Acts 7:45-50
New International Version
45 After receiving the tabernacle, our ancestors under Joshua brought it with them when they took the land from the nations God drove out before them.(A) It remained in the land until the time of David,(B) 46 who enjoyed God’s favor and asked that he might provide a dwelling place for the God of Jacob.[a](C) 47 But it was Solomon who built a house for him.(D)
48 “However, the Most High(E) does not live in houses made by human hands.(F) As the prophet says:

45 Our ancestors in turn received it and with Joshua brought it in when they dispossessed the nations that God drove out before them,(A) until the days of David. 46 He found favor in God’s sight and asked that he might provide a dwelling place for the God[a] of Jacob.(B) 47 It was Solomon, rather, who built him a house,(C) 48 but the Most High does not dwell in sanctuaries made with hands, as the prophet says:(D)
49 Heaven is my throne,
and the earth my footstool.
What sort of house will you build for me?
says the Lord,
or what will be my resting place?
50 Did not my hand make all these things?[b](E)
