Final Restoration Promised
9 For I will then restore
pure(A) speech to the peoples
so that all of them may call
on the name of the Lord
and serve him with a single purpose.[a]
10 From beyond the rivers of Cush(B)
my supplicants, my dispersed people,
will bring an offering to me.
11 On that day you[b] will not be put to shame(C)
because of everything you have done
in rebelling(D) against me.
For then I will remove
from among you your jubilant,(E) arrogant people,
and you will never again be haughty
on my holy mountain.(F)
12 I will leave
a meek and humble people(G) among you,
and they will take refuge in the name of the Lord.
13 The remnant(H) of Israel will no longer
do wrong or tell lies;
a deceitful tongue will not be found
in their mouths.
They will pasture and lie down,
with nothing to make them afraid.(I)
14 Sing for joy, Daughter Zion;
shout loudly, Israel!
Be glad and celebrate with all your heart,
Daughter Jerusalem!
15 The Lord has removed your punishment;
he has turned back your enemy.
The King of Israel, the Lord, is among you;
you need no longer fear harm.
16 On that day it will be said to Jerusalem:
“Do not fear;
Zion, do not let your hands grow weak.(J)
17 The Lord your God is among you,
a warrior(K) who saves.
He will rejoice over you(L) with gladness.
He will be quiet[c] in his love.
He will delight in you with singing.”(M)
18 I will gather those who have been driven(N)
from the appointed festivals;
they will be a tribute from you[d]
and a reproach on her.[e]
19 Yes, at that time
I will deal with all who oppress you.
I will save the lame(O) and gather the outcasts;(P)
I will make those who were disgraced
throughout the earth
receive praise and fame.
20 At that time I will bring you[f] back,
yes, at the time I will gather you.
I will give you fame and praise
among all the peoples of the earth,
when I restore your fortunes(Q) before your eyes.
The Lord has spoken.

The Lord’s Mercy to Israel
18 Therefore the Lord is waiting to show you mercy,
and is rising up to show you compassion,(A)
for the Lord is a just God.
All who wait patiently for him are happy.
19 For people will live on Zion in Jerusalem. You will never weep again; he will show favor to you at the sound of your outcry; as soon as he hears, he will answer you. 20 The Lord will give you meager bread and water during oppression,(B) but your Teacher[a] will not hide any longer. Your eyes will see your Teacher, 21 and whenever you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.”(C)

The Righteousness of God through Faith
21 But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed,(A) attested by the Law and the Prophets.[a](B) 22 The righteousness of God is through faith(C) in Jesus Christ[b](D) to all who believe,(E) since there is no distinction.(F) 23 For all have sinned(G) and fall short of the[c] glory of God; 24 they are justified freely by his grace(H) through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.(I) 25 God presented him as the mercy seat[d](J) by his blood,(K) through faith, to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his restraint God(L) passed over the sins previously committed.(M) 26 God presented him to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so that he would be just and justify the one who has faith in Jesus.
