“When I destroy all mankind
    on the face of the earth,”^(C)
declares the Lord,^(D)

¹⁹ “‘They will throw their silver into the streets,^(A)
    and their gold will be treated as a thing unclean.
Their silver and gold
    will not be able to deliver them
    in the day of the Lord’s wrath.^(B)
It will not satisfy^(C) their hunger
    or fill their stomachs,
    for it has caused them to stumble^(D) into sin.^(E)

¹¹ I will destroy the cities^(A) of your land
    and tear down all your strongholds.^(B)
12 I will destroy your witchcraft
    and you will no longer cast spells.^(C)
13 I will destroy your idols^(D)
    and your sacred stones from among you;^(E)
you will no longer bow down
    to the work of your hands.^(F)
14 I will uproot from among you your Asherah poles^[a](G)
    when I demolish your cities.

⁸ Ephraim, what more have I^[a] to do with idols?^(A)
    I will answer him and care for him.
I am like a flourishing juniper;^(B)
    your fruitfulness comes from me.”
