Zechariah 7:11-14

New International Version

¹¹“But they refused to pay attention; stubbornly^(A) they turned their backs^(B) and covered their ears.^(C) ¹²They made their hearts as hard as flint^(D) and would not listen to the law or to the words that the Lord Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets.^(E) So the Lord Almighty was very angry.^(F)

¹³“‘When I called, they did not listen;^(G) so when they called, I would not listen,’^(H) says the Lord Almighty.^(I) ¹⁴‘I scattered^(J) them with a whirlwind^(K) among all the nations, where they were strangers. The land they left behind them was so desolate that no one traveled through it.^(L) This is how they made the pleasant land desolate.^(M)’”

¹¹But they ^(A)refused to pay attention, and ^[a]^(B)turned a stubborn shoulder and ^[b]^(C)plugged their ears from hearing. ¹²They also made their ^(D)hearts as hard as ^(E)a diamond ^[c]so that they could not hear the Law and the ^(F)words which the Lord of armies had sent by His Spirit through the ^(G)former prophets; therefore great ^(H)wrath came from the Lord of armies. ¹³And just as ^(I)He called and they would not listen, so ^(J)they called and I would not listen,” says the Lord of armies; ¹⁴“but I ^[d]^(K)scattered them with a ^(L)storm wind among all the nations whom they did not know. So the land was ^(M)desolated behind them ^[e]so that ^(N)no one went back and forth, since they ^(O)made the pleasant land desolate.”
