Zechariah 12:9-11
Good News Translation
9 At that time I will destroy every nation that tries to attack Jerusalem.
10 (A)“I will fill the descendants of David and the other people of Jerusalem with the spirit of mercy and the spirit of prayer. They will look at the one whom they stabbed to death, and they will mourn for him like those who mourn for an only child. They will mourn bitterly, like those who have lost their first-born son. 11 At that time the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning for Hadad Rimmon[a] in the plain of Megiddo.

- Zechariah 12:11 Probably a name for Baal, the god of vegetation in Canaan and Syria. When the vegetation died each year, the worshipers thought that the god had died, and they mourned his death.
Zechariah 12:9-11
New International Version
9 On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations(A) that attack Jerusalem.(B)
Mourning for the One They Pierced
10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit[a](C) of grace and supplication.(D) They will look on[b] me, the one they have pierced,(E) and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child,(F) and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.(G) 11 On that day the weeping(H) in Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.(I)
