Zechariah 11:12-13 New Living Translation (NLT)

12 And I said to them, “If you like, give me my wages, whatever I am worth; but only if you want to.” So they counted out for my wages thirty pieces of silver.

13 And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter[a]”—this magnificent sum at which they valued me! So I took the thirty coins and threw them to the potter in the Temple of the Lord.

Footnotes:

  1. 11:13 Syriac version reads into the treasury; also in 11:13b. Compare Matt 27:6-10.

Zechariah 11:12-13 Amplified Bible (AMP)

12 I said to them, “If it seems good to you, give me my wages; but if not, do not.” So they weighed out [a]thirty pieces of silver as my wages. 13 [b]Then the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter [as if to the dogs]—that magnificent sum at which I am valued by them!” So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the Lord.

Footnotes:

  1. Zechariah 11:12 Since the type of coin is not stated, shekels can be assumed. The shekel was the standard wage for a day of labor, and the payment was weighed because the shekel was actually a unit of weight.
  2. Zechariah 11:13 At this point the pre-incarnate Christ intervenes and prophetically refers to the payment given by the religious leaders to Judas for his betrayal (Matt 26:15).
