10 Ask of Yahweh rain in the spring time,
Yahweh who makes storm clouds,
and he gives rain showers to everyone for the plants in the field.
2 For the teraphim[a] have spoken vanity,
and the diviners have seen a lie;
and they have told false dreams.
They comfort in vain.
Therefore they go their way like sheep.
They are oppressed, because there is no shepherd.
3 My anger is kindled against the shepherds,
and I will punish the male goats,
for Yahweh of Armies has visited his flock, the house of Judah,
and will make them as his majestic horse in the battle.
4 From him will come the cornerstone,
from him the tent peg,
from him the battle bow,
from him every ruler together.
5 They will be as mighty men,
treading down muddy streets in the battle.
They will fight, because Yahweh is with them.
The riders on horses will be confounded.
6 “I will strengthen the house of Judah,
and I will save the house of Joseph.
I will bring them back,
for I have mercy on them.
They will be as though I had not cast them off,
for I am Yahweh their God, and I will hear them.
7 Ephraim will be like a mighty man,
and their heart will rejoice as through wine.
Yes, their children will see it and rejoice.
Their heart will be glad in Yahweh.
8 I will signal for them and gather them,
for I have redeemed them.
They will increase as they were before.
9 I will sow them among the peoples.
They will remember me in far countries.
They will live with their children and will return.
10 I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt,
and gather them out of Assyria.
I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon;
and there won’t be room enough for them.
11 He will pass through the sea of affliction,
and will strike the waves in the sea,
and all the depths of the Nile will dry up;
and the pride of Assyria will be brought down,
and the scepter of Egypt will depart.
12 I will strengthen them in Yahweh.
They will walk up and down in his name,” says Yahweh.

10 Искайте от Господа дъжд във време на пролетния дъжд; И Господ, който прави светкавици, Ще им даде изобилен дъжд, И трева всекиму на полето.
2 Понеже идолите говориха суета, И чародеите видяха лъжливи видения, Разказаха неверни сънища, И утешаваха напразно, Затова <людете> се скитат като стадо, Смущават се защото няма пастир.
3 Гневът Ми пламна против пастирите, И ще накажа козлите; Защото Господ на Силите посети стадото Си, Юдовия дом, И ги направи като Своя великолепен кон в бой.
4 От Него ще излезе краеъгълният камък, От Него колът, От Него боевият лък, А, заедно с тях, от Него всеки първенец.
5 Те ще бъдат като силни мъже, Които в боя тъпчат <противниците> в калта на пътищата; И ще воюват, защото Господ е с тях; И яздещите на коне ще се посрамят.
6 Аз ще укрепя Юдовия дом, И ще избавя Иосифовия дом, И пак ще ги възвърна, Защото се смилих за тях. Те ще бъдат като че не бях ги отхвърлил, Защото Аз съм Господ техен Бог, И ще ги послушам.
7 Ефремците ще бъдат като силен мъж, И сърцето им ще се зарадва като от вино; Дори чадата им ще видят това и ще се зарадват, Сърцето им ще се развесели в Господа.
8 Ще им свирна и ще ги събера, Защото Аз ги изкупих; И ще се наплодят както се бяха наплодили.
9 И при все, че ги сея между племената, Те ще Ме помнят в далечни страни; И както те, тъй и чадата им, ще живеят, и ще се върнат.
10 Ще ги доведа пак от Египетската земя, Ще ги събера от Асирия, И ще ги доведа в Галаадската земя и в Ливан, Догдето не ще им се намери място.
11 Като премине Той върху морето, Ще порази вълните на морето, И всичките дълбочини на Нил ще изсъхнат; Гордостта на Асирия ще се повали. И скиптърът на Египет ще се отнеме.
12 Аз ще ги укрепя в Господа; И те ще ходят в името Му, казва Господ.

The Lord Will Care for Judah
10 Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;
it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.
He gives showers of rain(A) to all people,
and plants of the field(B) to everyone.
2 The idols(C) speak deceitfully,
diviners(D) see visions that lie;
they tell dreams(E) that are false,
they give comfort in vain.(F)
Therefore the people wander like sheep
oppressed for lack of a shepherd.(G)
3 “My anger burns against the shepherds,
and I will punish the leaders;(H)
for the Lord Almighty will care
for his flock, the people of Judah,
and make them like a proud horse in battle.(I)
4 From Judah will come the cornerstone,(J)
from him the tent peg,(K)
from him the battle bow,(L)
from him every ruler.
5 Together they[a] will be like warriors in battle
trampling their enemy into the mud of the streets.(M)
They will fight because the Lord is with them,
and they will put the enemy horsemen to shame.(N)
6 “I will strengthen(O) Judah
and save the tribes of Joseph.
I will restore them
because I have compassion(P) on them.(Q)
They will be as though
I had not rejected them,
for I am the Lord their God
and I will answer(R) them.
7 The Ephraimites will become like warriors,
and their hearts will be glad as with wine.(S)
Their children will see it and be joyful;
their hearts will rejoice(T) in the Lord.
8 I will signal(U) for them
and gather them in.
Surely I will redeem them;
they will be as numerous(V) as before.
9 Though I scatter them among the peoples,
yet in distant lands they will remember me.(W)
They and their children will survive,
and they will return.
10 I will bring them back from Egypt
and gather them from Assyria.(X)
I will bring them to Gilead(Y) and Lebanon,
and there will not be room(Z) enough for them.
11 They will pass through the sea of trouble;
the surging sea will be subdued
and all the depths of the Nile will dry up.(AA)
Assyria’s pride(AB) will be brought down
and Egypt’s scepter(AC) will pass away.(AD)
12 I will strengthen(AE) them in the Lord
and in his name they will live securely,(AF)”
declares the Lord.
