Zechariah 8:14-17

¹⁴For thus says the Lord of hosts: ^(A)“As I purposed to bring disaster to you when your fathers provoked me to wrath, and I did not relent, says the Lord of hosts, ¹⁵so again have I purposed in these days to bring good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah; ^(B)fear not. ¹⁶These are the things that you shall do: ^(C)Speak the truth to one another; ^(D)render in your gates judgments ^(E)that are true and make for peace; ¹⁷^(F)do not devise evil in your hearts against one another, and ^(G)love no false oath, for all these things I hate, declares the Lord.”

¹⁴“For this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: I was determined to punish you when your ancestors angered me, and I did not change my mind, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. ¹⁵But now I am determined to bless Jerusalem and the people of Judah. So don’t be afraid. ¹⁶But this is what you must do: Tell the truth to each other. Render verdicts in your courts that are just and that lead to peace. ¹⁷Don’t scheme against each other. Stop your love of telling lies that you swear are the truth. I hate all these things, says the Lord.”

¹⁴This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Just as I had determined to bring disaster^(A) on you and showed no pity when your ancestors angered me,” says the Lord Almighty, ¹⁵“so now I have determined to do good^(B) again to Jerusalem and Judah.^(C) Do not be afraid. ¹⁶These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth^(D) to each other, and render true and sound judgment^(E) in your courts;^(F) ¹⁷do not plot evil^(G) against each other, and do not love to swear falsely.^(H) I hate all this,” declares the Lord.
