11 But they (A)refused to pay attention, and [a](B)turned a stubborn shoulder and [b](C)plugged their ears from hearing. 12 They also made their (D)hearts as hard as (E)a diamond [c]so that they could not hear the Law and the (F)words which the Lord of armies had sent by His Spirit through the (G)former prophets; therefore great (H)wrath came from the Lord of armies. 13 And just as (I)He called and they would not listen, so (J)they called and I would not listen,” says the Lord of armies; 14 “but I [d](K)scattered them with a (L)storm wind among all the nations whom they did not know. So the land was (M)desolated behind them [e]so that (N)no one went back and forth, since they (O)made the pleasant land desolate.”

11 But they refused to pay attention. They turned a cold shoulder and stopped listening.

12 They steeled their hearts against hearing the Instruction and the words that the Lord of heavenly forces sent by his spirit through the earlier prophets. As a result, the Lord of heavenly forces became enraged.

13 So just as he called and they didn’t listen, when they called, I didn’t listen, says the Lord of heavenly forces. 14 I scattered them throughout the nations whom they didn’t know. The land was devastated behind them, with no one leaving or returning. They turned a delightful land into a wasteland.

13 “‘When I called, they did not listen;(G) so when they called, I would not listen,’(H) says the Lord Almighty.(I) 14 ‘I scattered(J) them with a whirlwind(K) among all the nations, where they were strangers. The land they left behind them was so desolate that no one traveled through it.(L) This is how they made the pleasant land desolate.(M)’”
