Yahweh Will Save

12 The oracle of the word of Yahweh concerning Israel.

Thus declares Yahweh who (A)stretches out the heavens, (B)lays the foundation of the earth, and (C)forms the spirit of man within him, “Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a (D)cup [a]that causes reeling to all the peoples all around. Now the one in siege against Jerusalem will also be against (E)Judah. But it will be in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a heavy (F)stone for all the peoples; all who heave it up will be (G)severely [b]injured. And all the (H)nations of the earth will be gathered against it. In that day,” declares Yahweh, “I will strike every horse with bewilderment and his rider with madness. But I will open my eyes to watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘[c]A strong support for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through Yahweh of hosts, their God.’

“In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a (I)fiery laver among pieces of wood and a fiery torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem will again be (J)inhabited in its own place—in Jerusalem. Yahweh also will (K)save the tents of Judah first so that the glory of the house of (L)David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not be magnified above Judah. In that day Yahweh will (M)defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who (N)stumbles among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like (O)God, like the (P)angel of Yahweh before them. And it will be in that day, that I will (Q)seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Mourning for the Pierced One

10 “And I will (R)pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem [d]the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have (S)pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one (T)mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. 11 In that day there will be great (U)mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the [e]plain of [f]Megiddo. 12 And the land will mourn, each family alone; the family of the house of David alone and their wives alone; the family of the house of Nathan alone and their wives alone; 13 the family of the house of Levi alone and their wives alone; the family of the Shimeites alone and their wives alone; 14 all the families that remain, each family alone and their wives alone.

12 The [a]burden of the word of Jehovah concerning Israel.

Thus saith Jehovah, who stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him: Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of reeling unto all the peoples round about, and [b]upon Judah also [c]shall it be in the siege against Jerusalem. And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all the peoples; all that burden themselves with it shall be sore wounded; and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it. In that day, saith Jehovah, I will smite every horse with terror, and his rider with madness; and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the peoples with blindness. And the chieftains of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in Jehovah of hosts their God. In that day will I make the chieftains of Judah like a pan of fire among wood, and like a flaming torch among sheaves; and they shall devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left; and they of Jerusalem shall yet again dwell in [d]their own place, even in Jerusalem. Jehovah also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem be not magnified above Judah. In that day shall Jehovah defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he [e]that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of Jehovah before them. And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look unto [f]me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his first-born. 11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon. 12 And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; 13 the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of the Shimeites apart, and their wives apart; 14 all the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.
