¹¹ But ^(A)they refused to pay attention ^(B)and turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped their ears that they might not hear.^[a]

^29 (A)And you warned them in order to turn them back to your law. Yet ^(B)they acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments, but sinned against your rules, ^(C)which if a person does them, he shall live by them, ^(D)and they turned a stubborn shoulder ^(E)and stiffened their neck and would not obey.

⁵⁷ But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together^[a] at him.

^4 (A)Do not be like your fathers, ^(B)to whom the former prophets cried out, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, ^(C)Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But ^(D)they did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.

^7 (A)But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me: because all the house of Israel ^(B)have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart.

¹⁵ I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, sending them ^(A)persistently, saying, ^(B)‘Turn now every one of you from his evil way, and amend your deeds, and ^(C)do not go after other gods to serve them, and then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to you and your fathers.’ ^(D)But you did not incline your ear or listen to me.

²⁵ See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For ^(A)if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.
