³ the third by white horses, and the fourth by powerful dappled-gray horses.

² I looked up and saw a white horse standing there. Its rider carried a bow, and a crown was placed on his head. He rode out to win many battles and gain the victory.

⁸ I looked up and saw a horse whose color was pale green. Its rider was named Death, and his companion was the Grave.^[a] These two were given authority over one-fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword and famine and disease^[b] and wild animals.

⁸ In a vision during the night, I saw a man sitting on a red horse that was standing among some myrtle trees in a small valley. Behind him were riders on red, brown, and white horses.

The Final Judgment

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide.

The Rider on the White Horse

¹¹ Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider was named Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war.

⁴⁰ Following that kingdom, there will be a fourth one, as strong as iron. That kingdom will smash and crush all previous empires, just as iron smashes and crushes everything it strikes. ⁴¹ The feet and toes you saw were a combination of iron and baked clay, showing that this kingdom will be divided. Like iron mixed with clay, it will have some of the strength of iron.

³³ its legs were iron, and its feet were a combination of iron and baked clay.

⁶ The chariot with black horses is going north, the chariot with white horses is going west,^[a] and the chariot with dappled-gray horses is going south.”

⁷ The powerful horses were eager to set out to patrol the earth. And the Lord said, “Go and patrol the earth!” So they left at once on their patrol.
