For if these things are yours and are increasing among you, they keep you from being ineffective and unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.(B) For anyone who lacks these things is blind, suffering from eye disease, forgetful of the cleansing of past sins.(C) 10 Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more eager to confirm your call and election, for if you do this, you will never stumble.

13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.(A) 14 For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us,(B) 15 abolishing the law with its commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new humanity in place of the two, thus making peace,(C) 16 and might reconcile both to God in one body[a] through the cross, thus putting to death that hostility through it.[b](D) 17 So he came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near, 18 for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father.(E) 19 So then, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God,(F) 20 built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone;[c](G) 21 in him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord,(H) 22 in whom you also are built together spiritually[d] into a dwelling place for God.

10 According to the grace of God given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building on it. Let each builder choose with care how to build on it.(A) 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus Christ.(B) 12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— 13 the work of each builder will become visible, for the day[a] will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each has done.(C) 14 If the work that someone has built on the foundation survives, the builder will receive a wage. 15 If the work is burned up, the builder will suffer loss; the builder will be saved, but only as through fire.
