⁹ For I am going to raise^[a] my hand against them, and they shall become plunder for their own slaves. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me.^(A)

¹⁶ On that day the Egyptians will be like women and tremble with fear before the hand that the Lord of hosts raises against them.^(A)

⁹ “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.^(A)

¹⁰ They will not need to take wood out of the field or cut down any trees in the forests, for they will make their fires of the weapons; they will despoil those who despoiled them and plunder those who plundered them, says the Lord God.^(A)

² And the nations will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess the nations^[a] as male and female slaves in the Lord’s land; they will take captive those who were their captors and rule over those who oppressed them.^(A)

¹⁵ “Those who are far off shall come and help to build the temple of the Lord, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.”^(A)

⁴ But I have said these things to you so that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you about them.

The Work of the Spirit

“I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.

¹⁹ I tell you this now, before it occurs, so that when it does occur you may believe that I am he.^[a](A)

⁸ For thus said the Lord of hosts after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you: Truly, one who touches you touches the apple of my eye.^[a](A)
