Mười Ðiều Răn
(Phục 5:1-33)
20 Bấy giờ Ðức Chúa Trời phán mọi lời nầy, 2 “Ta là Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của ngươi, Ðấng đã đem ngươi ra khỏi xứ Ai-cập, tức khỏi nhà nô lệ:
3 Trước mặt Ta ngươi chớ có các thần khác.
4 Ngươi chớ làm hình tượng cho mình để thờ, bất kể hình tượng của vật gì trên trời, hoặc vật gì dưới đất, hoặc vật gì trong nước dưới mặt đất.
5 Ngươi không được sấp mình xuống trước mặt chúng hay thờ lạy chúng, vì Ta, Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của ngươi, là một Thần[a] ghen tương. Do tội ghét bỏ Ta của ông bà cha mẹ mà con cháu sẽ bị vạ lây đến ba bốn đời, 6 nhưng Ta sẽ bày tỏ ơn thương xót đến ngàn đời cho những kẻ yêu kính Ta và vâng giữ các điều răn Ta.
7 Ngươi chớ dùng danh Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của ngươi, một cách bất kính, vì Chúa sẽ không kể vô tội kẻ nào dùng danh Ngài một cách bất kính.
8 Hãy nhớ ngày Sa-bát mà biệt riêng ngày ấy ra thánh. 9 Ngươi sẽ lao động và làm mọi việc của mình trong sáu ngày, 10 nhưng ngày thứ bảy là ngày Sa-bát để tôn kính Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của ngươi; trong ngày đó, ngươi, con trai, con gái, tôi trai, tớ gái, súc vật, hay ngoại kiều cư ngụ trong thành ngươi đều không được làm việc gì, 11 vì trong sáu ngày Chúa đã dựng nên trời, đất, biển, và mọi vật trong chúng, nhưng đến ngày thứ bảy, Ngài nghỉ. Vậy Chúa đã ban phước cho ngày Sa-bát và biệt riêng ngày ấy ra thánh.
12 Hãy hiếu kính cha mẹ ngươi, để ngươi được sống lâu trên đất mà Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của ngươi, ban cho ngươi.
13 Ngươi chớ sát nhân.
14 Ngươi chớ ngoại tình.
15 Ngươi chớ trộm cắp.
16 Ngươi chớ làm chứng dối để hại người lân cận ngươi.[b]
17 Ngươi chớ tham nhà của người lân cận ngươi; ngươi chớ tham muốn vợ của người lân cận ngươi, hoặc tôi trai, tớ gái, bò, lừa, hay bất cứ vật chi thuộc về người lân cận ngươi.”
18 Khi toàn dân chứng kiến cảnh sấm nổ vang trời, sét chớp liên hồi, tiếng kèn trỗi lên vang lừng, và núi bốc khói mịt mù, thì sợ hãi và đứng cách xa. 19 Họ nói với Môi-se, “Xin chính ông nói với chúng tôi, và chúng tôi sẽ nghe lời ông, nhưng xin đừng để Ðức Chúa Trời nói với chúng tôi, e chúng tôi chết mất.”
20 Môi-se nói với dân, “Ðừng sợ, vì Ðức Chúa Trời đến chỉ để thử anh chị em, hầu anh chị em kính sợ Ngài mà đừng phạm tội.” 21 Dân cứ đứng cách một khoảng xa, trong khi Môi-se đến gần đám mây đen, nơi Ðức Chúa Trời đang ngự.

22 Chúa phán với Môi-se, “Ngươi hãy nói với dân I-sơ-ra-ên như thế nầy: Chính các ngươi đã thấy Ta từ trời nói chuyện với các ngươi. 23 Các ngươi chớ đúc các tượng thần bằng bạc để thờ bên cạnh Ta. Các ngươi cũng chớ đúc các tượng thần bằng vàng để thờ.
24 Ngươi chỉ cần lập cho Ta một bàn thờ bằng đất, rồi dâng trên đó những của lễ thiêu, của lễ cầu an, chiên, và bò của mình ở những nơi Ta muốn danh Ta được ghi nhớ, để Ta sẽ đến với ngươi và ban phước cho ngươi. 25 Còn nếu ngươi muốn lập cho Ta một bàn thờ bằng đá thì chớ dùng những đá đã bị đục đẽo, vì nếu ngươi đã dùng mũi đục mà chạm khắc trên đá ấy, ngươi đã làm cho đá ấy trở nên ô uế. 26 Ngươi chớ đi lên bàn thờ bằng bực thang, để sự lõa lồ của ngươi sẽ không bị lộ.

20 Y habló Dios todas estas palabras, diciendo:
2 (A)Yo soy el Señor tu Dios, que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre[a](B).
3 No tendrás otros dioses delante de[b] mí(C).
4 No te harás ídolo[c], ni semejanza alguna de lo que está arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra(D), ni en las aguas debajo de la tierra. 5 No los adorarás[d] ni los servirás[e](E); porque yo, el Señor tu Dios, soy Dios celoso(F), que castigo la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta[f] la tercera y cuarta generación(G) de los que me aborrecen, 6 y muestro misericordia a millares, a los que me aman y guardan mis mandamientos(H).
7 No tomarás el nombre del Señor tu Dios en vano, porque el Señor no tendrá por inocente al que tome su nombre en vano(I).
8 Acuérdate del día de reposo para santificarlo(J). 9 Seis días trabajarás y harás toda tu obra(K), 10 mas el séptimo día es día de reposo para el Señor tu Dios; no harás en él obra alguna, tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu siervo, ni tu sierva, ni tu ganado, ni el extranjero que está contigo[g](L). 11 Porque en seis días hizo el Señor los cielos y la tierra, el mar y todo lo que en ellos hay, y reposó en el séptimo día(M); por tanto, el Señor bendijo el día de reposo y lo santificó.
12 Honra a tu padre y a tu madre(N), para que tus días sean prolongados en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da(O).
14 No cometerás adulterio(Q).
15 No hurtarás(R).
16 No darás falso testimonio(S) contra tu prójimo(T).
17 No codiciarás la casa de tu prójimo(U); no codiciarás la mujer de tu prójimo(V), ni su siervo, ni su sierva, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni nada que sea de tu prójimo.
El pueblo teme al Señor
18 Y todo el pueblo percibía los truenos[i] y relámpagos, el sonido de la trompeta y el monte que humeaba(W); y cuando el pueblo vio aquello, temblaron, y se mantuvieron a distancia. 19 Entonces dijeron a Moisés: Habla tú con nosotros y escucharemos; pero que no hable Dios con nosotros, no sea que muramos(X). 20 Y respondió Moisés al pueblo: No temáis(Y), porque Dios ha venido para poneros a prueba(Z), y para que su temor permanezca en[j] vosotros(AA), y para que no pequéis. 21 Y el pueblo se mantuvo a distancia, mientras Moisés se acercaba a la densa nube(AB) donde estaba Dios.
22 Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: «Vosotros habéis visto que os he hablado[k] desde el cielo(AC). 23 No haréis junto a mí[l] dioses de plata ni dioses de oro(AD); no os los haréis(AE). 24 Harás un altar de tierra para mí(AF), y sobre él sacrificarás tus holocaustos(AG) y tus ofrendas de paz(AH), tus ovejas y tus bueyes; en todo lugar donde yo haga recordar mi nombre, vendré a ti y te bendeciré(AI). 25 Y si me haces un altar de piedra, no lo construirás de piedras labradas(AJ); porque si alzas tu cincel sobre él, lo profanarás. 26 Y no subirás por gradas a mi altar, para que tu desnudez no se descubra sobre él(AK)».

20 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.
19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.
22 And the Lord said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.
23 Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.
24 An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.
25 And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.
26 Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.

20 And God spoke(B) all these words:(C)
2 “I am the Lord your God,(D) who brought you out(E) of Egypt,(F) out of the land of slavery.(G)
3 “You shall have no other gods before[a] me.(H)
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image(I) in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship(J) them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God,(K) punishing the children for the sin of the parents(L) to the third and fourth generation(M) of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand(N) generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.(O)
8 “Remember the Sabbath(P) day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,(Q) 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath(R) to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth,(S) the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested(T) on the seventh day.(U) Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 “Honor your father and your mother,(V) so that you may live long(W) in the land(X) the Lord your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.(Y)
14 “You shall not commit adultery.(Z)
15 “You shall not steal.(AA)
16 “You shall not give false testimony(AB) against your neighbor.(AC)
17 “You shall not covet(AD) your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
18 When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet(AE) and saw the mountain in smoke,(AF) they trembled with fear.(AG) They stayed at a distance 19 and said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak(AH) to us or we will die.”(AI)
20 Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid.(AJ) God has come to test(AK) you, so that the fear(AL) of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”(AM)
21 The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness(AN) where God was.
Idols and Altars
22 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites this: ‘You have seen for yourselves that I have spoken to you from heaven:(AO) 23 Do not make any gods to be alongside me;(AP) do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.(AQ)
24 “‘Make an altar(AR) of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings(AS) and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name(AT) to be honored, I will come to you and bless(AU) you. 25 If you make an altar of stones for me, do not build it with dressed stones, for you will defile it if you use a tool(AV) on it. 26 And do not go up to my altar on steps, or your private parts(AW) may be exposed.’
