9 Sấm ngôn: Lời của CHÚA
nghịch lại Ha-đơ-rắc và đậu trên Đa-mách,
Vì mắt của mọi người, và của mọi bộ tộc Y-sơ-ra-ên
Đều hướng về CHÚA,
2 Cũng nghịch lại Ha-mát, giáp ranh với nó,
Nghịch lại Ty-rơ và Si-đôn, là hai thành rất khôn ngoan.
3 Ty-rơ đã xây đắp thành lũy,
Tích trữ bạc như bụi cát,
Chất chứa vàng như bùn lầy ngoài đường.
4 Này, Chúa sẽ tước đoạt của cải nó,
Đánh tan quyền lực nó nơi biển cả,
Và chính nó sẽ bị lửa thiêu nuốt.
5 Nhìn thấy cảnh đó, Ách-ca-lôn sợ hãi,
Ga-xa lo lắng quặn đau;
Cả Éc-rôn nữa, vì hy vọng nó tiêu tan.
Ga-xa chẳng còn vua,
Ách-ca-lôn không người cư ngụ.
6 Một giống dân lai sẽ định cư tại Ách-đốt.
Và Ta sẽ cắt đứt nguồn kiêu hãnh của dân Phi-li-tin.
7 Ta sẽ xóa sạch máu khỏi miệng chúng,
Lấy thức ăn gớm ghiếc ra khỏi răng chúng.
Dân sót lại của chúng cũng sẽ thuộc về Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta,
Chúng sẽ trở thành một bộ tộc trong Giu-đa,
Và dân Éc-rôn sẽ trở nên như dân Giê-bu-sít.
8 Nhưng Ta sẽ đóng trại canh gác tại nhà Ta,
Vì một đạo quân, vì kẻ đi qua đi lại.
Kẻ áp bức sẽ không còn xâm chiếm chúng nữa,
Vì bây giờ Ta để mắt trông nom.
Vua Vào Thành Giê-ru-sa-lem
9 Hỡi con gái của Si-ôn, hãy vui mừng hớn hở!
Hỡi con gái của Giê-ru-sa-lem, hãy reo mừng!
Kìa, Vua của ngươi đang tiến đến với ngươi,
Ngài công chính và có sự cứu rỗi,[a]
Khiêm nhu, cưỡi lừa,
Một con lừa tơ, là con của lừa cái.
10 Ta sẽ diệt trừ chiến xa khỏi Ép-ra-im,
Và chiến mã khỏi Giê-ru-sa-lem;
Cung dùng trong chiến trận cũng sẽ bị bẻ gẫy.
Ngài sẽ công bố hòa bình cho muôn dân;
Ngài sẽ cai trị từ biển này đến biển kia,
Từ sông Ơ-phơ-rát đến tận cùng cõi đất.
CHÚA Giải Cứu Dân Ngài
11 Về phần ngươi, vì Ta đã lập giao ước với ngươi bằng máu,
Nên Ta sẽ thả những người của ngươi đang bị giam cầm,
Đưa họ lên khỏi hố không có nước.
12 Hỡi các ngươi—những người bị giam cầm nhưng vẫn còn hy vọng, hãy trở về đồn lũy!
Ngay chính hôm nay, Ta công bố: Ta sẽ đền bù cho ngươi gấp đôi.
13 Vì Ta đã giương cung của Ta là Giu-đa,
Nạp mũi tên là Ép-ra-im.
Hỡi Si-ôn, Ta sẽ dấy con cái của ngươi lên
Chống lại con cái Gia-van!
Ta sẽ biến Si-ôn thành lưỡi gươm dũng sĩ.
14 Bấy giờ CHÚA sẽ xuất hiện bên trên dân Ngài,
Mũi tên Ngài sẽ phóng đi như tia chớp.
CHÚA sẽ thổi tù và,
Ngài tiến tới với gió lốc phương nam.
15 CHÚA Vạn Quân sẽ là thuẫn khiên che chở dân Ngài:
Họ sẽ nuốt ngấu nghiến và chà đạp lên các hòn đá dùng để ném bằng trành,
Họ sẽ uống và gầm thét như khi rượu đã ngà ngà,
Họ sẽ no tràn như cái chén,
Như các góc bàn thờ.
16 CHÚA, Đức Chúa Trời sẽ giải cứu dân Ngài
Trong ngày ấy, như đàn chiên.
Họ sẽ chiếu sáng trên đất nước của Ngài
Như những viên đá quý lóng lánh trên vương miện.
17 Ôi, họ duyên dáng biết bao! Họ đẹp đẽ dường nào!
Lúa thóc giúp các thanh niên tràn đầy sinh lực,
Rượu nho mới khiến các thiếu nữ xinh tươi.

9 A prophecy:(A)
The word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrak
and will come to rest on Damascus(B)—
for the eyes of all people and all the tribes of Israel
are on the Lord—[a]
2 and on Hamath(C) too, which borders on it,
and on Tyre(D) and Sidon,(E) though they are very skillful.
3 Tyre has built herself a stronghold;
she has heaped up silver like dust,
and gold like the dirt of the streets.(F)
4 But the Lord will take away her possessions
and destroy(G) her power on the sea,
and she will be consumed by fire.(H)
5 Ashkelon(I) will see it and fear;
Gaza will writhe in agony,
and Ekron too, for her hope will wither.
Gaza will lose her king
and Ashkelon will be deserted.
6 A mongrel people will occupy Ashdod,
and I will put an end(J) to the pride of the Philistines.
7 I will take the blood from their mouths,
the forbidden food from between their teeth.
Those who are left will belong to our God(K)
and become a clan in Judah,
and Ekron will be like the Jebusites.(L)
8 But I will encamp(M) at my temple
to guard it against marauding forces.(N)
Never again will an oppressor overrun my people,
for now I am keeping watch.(O)
The Coming of Zion’s King
9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!(P)
Shout,(Q) Daughter Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you,(R)
righteous and victorious,(S)
lowly and riding on a donkey,(T)
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.(U)
10 I will take away the chariots from Ephraim
and the warhorses from Jerusalem,
and the battle bow will be broken.(V)
He will proclaim peace(W) to the nations.
His rule will extend from sea to sea
and from the River[b] to the ends of the earth.(X)
11 As for you, because of the blood of my covenant(Y) with you,
I will free your prisoners(Z) from the waterless pit.(AA)
12 Return to your fortress,(AB) you prisoners of hope;
even now I announce that I will restore twice(AC) as much to you.
13 I will bend Judah as I bend my bow(AD)
and fill it with Ephraim.(AE)
I will rouse your sons, Zion,
against your sons, Greece,(AF)
and make you like a warrior’s sword.(AG)
The Lord Will Appear
14 Then the Lord will appear over them;(AH)
his arrow will flash like lightning.(AI)
The Sovereign Lord will sound the trumpet;(AJ)
he will march in the storms(AK) of the south,
15 and the Lord Almighty will shield(AL) them.
They will destroy
and overcome with slingstones.(AM)
They will drink and roar as with wine;(AN)
they will be full like a bowl(AO)
used for sprinkling[c] the corners(AP) of the altar.
16 The Lord their God will save his people on that day(AQ)
as a shepherd saves his flock.
They will sparkle in his land
like jewels in a crown.(AR)
17 How attractive and beautiful they will be!
Grain will make the young men thrive,
and new wine the young women.

Israel Defended Against Enemies
9 The [a]burden of the word of the Lord
Against the land of Hadrach,
And (A)Damascus its resting place
(For (B)the eyes of men
And all the tribes of Israel
Are on the Lord);
2 Also against (C)Hamath, which borders on it,
And against (D)Tyre and (E)Sidon, though they are very (F)wise.
3 For Tyre built herself a tower,
Heaped up silver like the dust,
And gold like the mire of the streets.
4 Behold, (G)the Lord will cast her out;
He will destroy (H)her power in the sea,
And she will be devoured by fire.
5 Ashkelon shall see it and fear;
Gaza also shall be very sorrowful;
And (I)Ekron, for He dried up her expectation.
The king shall perish from Gaza,
And Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
6 “A[b] mixed race shall settle (J)in Ashdod,
And I will cut off the pride of the (K)Philistines.
7 I will take away the blood from his mouth,
And the abominations from between his teeth.
But he who remains, even he shall be for our God,
And shall be like a leader in Judah,
And Ekron like a Jebusite.
8 (L)I will camp around My house
Because of the army,
Because of him who passes by and him who returns.
No more shall an oppressor pass through them,
For now I have seen with My eyes.
The Coming King(M)
9 “Rejoice (N)greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, (O)your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.
10 I (P)will cut off the chariot from Ephraim
And the horse from Jerusalem;
The (Q)battle bow shall be cut off.
He shall speak peace to the nations;
His dominion shall be (R)‘from sea to sea,
And from the River to the ends of the earth.’
God Will Save His People
11 “As for you also,
Because of the blood of your covenant,
I will set your (S)prisoners free from the waterless pit.
12 Return to the stronghold,
(T)You prisoners of hope.
Even today I declare
That I will restore (U)double to you.
13 For I have bent Judah, My bow,
Fitted the bow with Ephraim,
And raised up your sons, O Zion,
Against your sons, O Greece,
And made you like the sword of a mighty man.”
14 Then the Lord will be seen over them,
And (V)His arrow will go forth like lightning.
The Lord God will blow the trumpet,
And go (W)with whirlwinds from the south.
15 The Lord of hosts will (X)defend them;
They shall devour and subdue with slingstones.
They shall drink and roar as if with wine;
They shall be filled with blood like [c]basins,
Like the corners of the altar.
16 The Lord their God will (Y)save them in that day,
As the flock of His people.
For (Z)they shall be like the [d]jewels of a crown,
(AA)Lifted like a banner over His land—
17 For (AB)how great is [e]its goodness
And how great its (AC)beauty!
(AD)Grain shall make the young men thrive,
And new wine the young women.

For the Lord has an eye on mankind
and on all the tribes of Israel,[a]
2 (B)and on Hamath also, which borders on it,
(C)Tyre and (D)Sidon, though (E)they are very wise.
3 Tyre has built herself (F)a rampart
and (G)heaped up silver like dust,
and fine gold like the mud of the streets.
4 But behold, the Lord will strip her of her possessions
and strike down (H)her power on the sea,
and (I)she shall be devoured by fire.
5 (J)Ashkelon shall see it, and be afraid;
Gaza too, and shall writhe in anguish;
Ekron also, because its hopes are confounded.
The king shall perish from Gaza;
Ashkelon shall be uninhabited;
6 (K)a mixed people[b] shall dwell in Ashdod,
and I will cut off the pride of Philistia.
7 I will take away (L)its blood from its mouth,
and (M)its abominations from between its teeth;
(N)it too shall be a remnant for our God;
it shall be like (O)a clan in Judah,
and Ekron shall be like the Jebusites.
8 Then (P)I will encamp at my house as a guard,
(Q)so that none shall march to and fro;
(R)no oppressor shall again march over them,
(S)for now I see with my own eyes.
The Coming King of Zion

righteous and having salvation is he,
(W)humble and mounted on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

and (Y)the war horse from Jerusalem;
and the battle bow shall be cut off,
and (Z)he shall speak peace to the nations;
(AA)his rule shall be from sea to sea,
and from (AB)the River[c] to the ends of the earth.
11 As for you also, because of (AC)the blood of my covenant with you,

15 The Lord of hosts (AN)will protect them,
and (AO)they shall devour, (AP)and tread down the sling stones,
and (AQ)they shall drink and roar as if drunk with wine,
and be full like a bowl,
drenched (AR)like the corners of the altar.
16 On that day the Lord their God will save them,
as (AS)the flock of his people;
for (AT)like the jewels of a crown
they shall shine on his land.
17 (AU)For how great is his goodness, and how great his beauty!
(AV)Grain shall make the young men flourish,
and new wine the young women.
