Lời Tiên Tri Mở Đầu: Khuyên Phải Ăn Năn
1 Vào tháng tám năm thứ hai triều Hoàng Đế Đa-ri-út, có lời CHÚA phán với tiên tri Xa-cha-ri, con Bê-réc-gia, cháu Ít-đô. 2 Con hãy bảo dân chúng:[a] “CHÚA đã nổi thịnh nộ với tổ phụ các ngươi.” 3 CHÚA Vạn Quân phán: “Hãy quay về với Ta” Ðấy là lời CHÚA. “Rồi Ta sẽ quay về với các ngươi,” CHÚA Vạn Quân phán. 4 “Đừng cư xử giống như tổ phụ các ngươi khi các tiên tri ngày trước bảo chúng.” CHÚA Vạn Quân phán: “Hãy quay về, hãy từ bỏ lối sống gian ác và hành vi gian ác của các ngươi. Nhưng chúng chẳng vâng theo, chẳng chú ý gì đến Ta,” CHÚA phán. 5 “Tổ phụ các ngươi đâu rồi? Các tiên tri có sống mãi từ đời này sang đời kia không? 6 Nhưng lời Ta cảnh cáo và mạng lệnh Ta truyền qua các tôi tớ Ta là các tiên tri đã ứng nghiệm trong đời tổ phụ các ngươi, có phải không?”
Bấy giờ dân chúng ăn năn, quay về và nói: “CHÚA Vạn Quân đã xử với chúng tôi theo lối sống và hành vi của chúng tôi, y như Ngài đã quyết định.”

7 Vào ngày hai mươi bốn tháng mười một, là tháng Sê-bát, năm thứ hai triều Hoàng Đế Đa-ri-út, có lời CHÚA phán với tiên tri Xa-cha-ri, con Bê-réc-gia, cháu Ít-đô.
8 Ban đêm, tôi nhìn thấy một người cưỡi ngựa màu đỏ dừng lại trong trũng, giữa lùm cây sim. Phía sau người có những người cưỡi ngựa màu đỏ, màu hồng và màu trắng. 9 Tôi hỏi thiên sứ đang nói chuyện với tôi: “Thưa Chúa, những người này là ai?” Thiên sứ đáp: “Ta sẽ tỏ cho ngươi biết họ là ai.”
10 Bấy giờ người đang đứng giữa các lùm cây sim lên tiếng: “CHÚA sai những người này đi tuần khắp địa cầu.” 11 Họ báo cáo lại với thiên sứ của CHÚA đang đứng giữa các lùm cây sim: “Chúng tôi đã đi tuần khắp địa cầu, và mọi nơi đều bình yên.” 12 Thiên sứ của CHÚA nài xin: “Lạy CHÚA, bảy mươi năm nay, Ngài đã nổi giận với thành Giê-ru-sa-lem và các thành trong xứ Giu-đa. Đến chừng nào Ngài mới thương xót chúng?”
13 CHÚA dùng lời lẽ nhân từ an ủi thiên sứ đang nói chuyện với tôi.
14 Thiên sứ đang nói chuyện với tôi bảo tôi: “Hãy loan báo: CHÚA Vạn Quân phán:
Ta yêu mến Giê-ru-sa-lem đến mức ghen tương,
Ta vì Si-ôn phát ghen dữ dội.
15 Nhưng cơn giận Ta nổi bừng lên đối với các dân các nước
Đang sống thảnh thơi an nhàn,
Vì Ta chỉ giận dân Ta chút ít thôi,
Nhưng chúng đã gây thêm tai họa cho dân Ta.”
16 Vì thế, CHÚA phán:
“Ta quay về với Giê-ru-sa-lem trong tình thương xót,
Nhà Ta sẽ được xây dựng lại trong thành.”
Đó là lời CHÚA Vạn Quân phán:
“Và thợ xây sẽ giăng dây ngang qua thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.
17 Con hãy loan báo tiếp:
CHÚA Vạn Quân phán:
Các thành của Ta sẽ lại ngập tràn của cải,
CHÚA sẽ lại an ủi Si-ôn.
Ngài sẽ lại chọn thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.”

18 Tôi ngước mắt lên nhìn, và này, có bốn cái sừng. 19 Tôi hỏi thiên sứ đang nói chuyện với tôi: “Những sừng này có nghĩa gì?” Người đáp: “Đây là những sừng đã làm tan tác xứ Giu-đa, xứ Y-sơ-ra-ên, và thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.”
20 Kế đến, CHÚA chỉ cho tôi thấy bốn người thợ rèn. 21 Tôi hỏi: “Những người này đến làm gì?” Ngài đáp: “Những sừng này đã làm tan tác Giu-đa đến nỗi không một ai ngóc đầu lên được. Những người thợ rèn này đến để làm cho các sừng kinh hãi, và để chặt đứt các sừng của các nước đã giương sừng lên húc vào đất nước Giu-đa, làm cho nó tan tác.”

A Call to Repentance(A)
1 In the eighth month (B)of the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came (C)to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of (D)Iddo the prophet, saying, 2 “The Lord has been very angry with your fathers. 3 Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Return (E)to Me,” says the Lord of hosts, “and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts. 4 “Do not be like your fathers, (F)to whom the former prophets preached, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: (G)“Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.” ’ But they did not hear nor heed Me,” says the Lord.
5 “Your fathers, where are they?
And the prophets, do they live forever?
6 Yet surely (H)My words and My statutes,
Which I commanded My servants the prophets,
Did they not overtake your fathers?
“So they returned and said:
(I)‘Just as the Lord of hosts determined to do to us,
According to our ways and according to our deeds,
So He has dealt with us.’ ” ’ ”
Vision of the Horses
7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet: 8 I saw by night, and behold, (J)a man riding on a red horse, and it stood among the myrtle trees in the hollow; and behind him were (K)horses: red, sorrel, and white. 9 Then I said, (L)“My lord, what are these?” So the angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what they are.”
10 And the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, (M)“These are the ones whom the Lord has sent to walk to and fro throughout the earth.”
11 (N)So they answered the Angel of the Lord, who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked to and fro throughout the earth, and behold, all the earth is [a]resting quietly.”
The Lord Will Comfort Zion
12 Then the Angel of the Lord answered and said, “O Lord of hosts, (O)how long will You not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which You were angry (P)these seventy years?”
13 And the Lord answered the angel who talked to me, with (Q)good and comforting words. 14 So the angel who spoke with me said to me, [b]“Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“I am (R)zealous[c] for Jerusalem
And for Zion with great [d]zeal.
15 I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease;
For (S)I was a little angry,
And they helped—but with evil intent.”
16 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord:
(T)“I am returning to Jerusalem with mercy;
My (U)house (V)shall be built in it,” says the Lord of hosts,
“And (W)a surveyor’s line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.” ’
17 “Again proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“My cities shall again [e]spread out through prosperity;
(X)The Lord will again comfort Zion,
And (Y)will again choose Jerusalem.” ’ ”
Vision of the Horns
18 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were four (Z)horns. 19 And I said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these?”
So he answered me, (AA)“These are the [f]horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”
20 Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen. 21 And I said, “What are these coming to do?”
So he said, “These are the (AB)horns that scattered Judah, so that no one could lift up his head; but [g]the craftsmen are coming to terrify them, to cast out the horns of the nations that (AC)lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.”

1 In the eighth month, (A)in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to the prophet (B)Zechariah, the son of (C)Berechiah, son of (D)Iddo, saying, 2 (E)“The Lord was very angry with your fathers. 3 Therefore say to them, Thus declares the Lord of hosts: (F)Return to me, says the Lord of hosts, and (G)I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. 4 (H)Do not be like your fathers, (I)to whom the former prophets cried out, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, (J)Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But (K)they did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the Lord. 5 Your fathers, where are they? And (L)the prophets, do they live forever? 6 (M)But my words and my statutes, which I commanded (N)my servants the prophets, did they not (O)overtake your fathers? So they repented and said, (P)‘As the Lord of hosts purposed to deal with us for (Q)our ways and (R)deeds, so has he dealt with us.’”
A Vision of a Horseman

He was standing among the myrtle trees in the glen, and behind him were (W)red, sorrel, and white horses. 9 Then I said, ‘What are these, my lord?’ (X)The angel who talked with me said to me, ‘I will show you what they are.’ 10 So (Y)the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered, (Z)‘These are they whom the Lord has sent to (AA)patrol the earth.’ 11 And they answered (AB)the angel of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees, and said, (AC)‘We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth (AD)remains at rest.’ 12 Then (AE)the angel of the Lord said, (AF)‘O Lord of hosts, (AG)how long will you (AH)have no mercy on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, against which you have been angry these (AI)seventy years?’ 13 And the Lord answered (AJ)gracious and comforting words to (AK)the angel who talked with me. 14 So (AL)the angel who talked with me said to me, ‘Cry out, Thus says the Lord of hosts: (AM)I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion. 15 (AN)And I am exceedingly angry with the nations that are (AO)at ease; (AP)for while I was angry but a little, (AQ)they furthered the disaster. 16 Therefore, thus says the Lord, (AR)I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy; (AS)my house shall be built in it, declares the Lord of hosts, and (AT)the measuring line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem. 17 Cry out again, Thus says the Lord of hosts: (AU)My cities shall again overflow with prosperity, (AV)and the Lord will again comfort Zion and again (AW)choose Jerusalem.’”
A Vision of Horns and Craftsmen
18 [a] And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, (AX)four horns! 19 And I said to (AY)the angel who talked with me, “What are these?” And he said to me, (AZ)“These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.” 20 Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen. 21 And I said, “What are these coming to do?” He said, (BA)“These are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no one raised his head. And these have come (BB)to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations (BC)who lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to scatter it.”
