144.000 märks med Guds sigill
7 Sedan såg jag fyra änglar, som stod vid jordens fyra hörn och hindrade de fyra vindarna att blåsa. Inte ett enda löv rörde sig längre bland träden, och havet blev blankt som en spegel.
2 Och jag såg en annan ängel komma från öster, och han hade med sig den levande Gudens sigill. Och han ropade till dessa fyra änglar, som hade fått makt att skada jorden och havet:
3 Vänta! Gör ingenting än, skada varken jorden, havet eller träden, förrän vi har satt Guds sigill på hans tjänares pannor.
4-8 Hur många blev märkta med detta sigill? Jag fick höra antalet, det var 144.000 och de kom från alla Israels tolv stammar: tolv tusen från Juda stam, tolv tusen från Ruben, tolv tusen från Gad, tolv tusen från Aser, tolv tusen från Naftali, tolv tusen från Manasse, tolv tusen från Simeon, tolv tusen från Levi, tolv tusen från Isaskar, tolv tusen från Sebulon, tolv tusen från Josef, och tolv tusen från Benjamin.
En oräknelig skara
9 Sedan såg jag en stor skara människor - alltför stor för att kunna räknas - från alla länder, folk och stammar stå inför tronen och Lammet, klädda i vita kläder och med palmblad i sina händer.
10 Och de ropade med hög röst: Frälsningen kommer från vår Gud som sitter på tronen, och från Lammet.
11 Och nu samlade sig alla änglarna runt tronen och runt de äldste och de fyra väsendena, och de föll ner på sina ansikten vid tronen i tillbedjan för Gud.
12 Amen! sa de. Välsignelse och härlighet och visdom och tacksägelse och ära och kraft och makt tillhör vår Gud i evigheternas evigheter. Amen!
13 Sedan frågade en av de tjugofyra äldste mig: Vet du vilka dessa är som är klädda i vita kläder, och varifrån de kommer?
14 Nej, Herre, svarade jag, vill du tala om det för mig? Det är de som kommer ur det stora lidandet, sa han. De har tvättat sina kläder rena i Lammets blod.
15 Det är därför som de står här vid Guds tron och tjänar honom dag och natt i hans tempel. Han som sitter på tronen ska beskydda dem.
16 De kommer aldrig att bli hungriga eller törstiga igen, och de ska aldrig brännas av middagssolens hetta.
17 För Lammet, som står framför tronen, ska ge dem mat och vara deras herde och leda dem till källorna med livets vatten. Och Gud ska torka bort tårarna från deras ögon.

7 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back (A)the four winds of the earth, (B)that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel ascending (C)from the rising of the sun, with (D)the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, 3 saying, (E)“Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God (F)on their foreheads.” 4 And (G)I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:
5 12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed,
12,000 from the tribe of Reuben,
12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
6 12,000 from the tribe of Asher,
12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali,
12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,
7 12,000 from the tribe of Simeon,
12,000 from the tribe of Levi,
12,000 from the tribe of Issachar,
8 12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun,
12,000 from the tribe of Joseph,
12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.
A Great Multitude from Every Nation
9 After this I looked, and behold, (H)a great multitude that no one could number, (I)from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, (J)clothed in white robes, with (K)palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, (L)“Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and (M)the four living creatures, and they (N)fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 (O)saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, (P)clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” 14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of (Q)the great tribulation. (R)They have washed their robes and (S)made them white (T)in the blood of the Lamb.
15 “Therefore they are before the throne of God,
and (U)serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne (V)will shelter them with his presence.
16 (W)They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
(X)the sun shall not strike them,
nor any scorching heat.
17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne (Y)will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of (Z)living water,
and (AA)God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
