3 Pòl te ranmase yon ti pakèt fachin, li t'ap mete l' nan dife a lè yon sèpan soti nan chalè dife a, li vlope nan men li.
4 Lè moun zile yo wè sèpan an pandye nan men Pòl, yonn t'ap di lòt: Gen lè nonm sa a se yon ansasen. Li chape nan nofraj la, epi men jistis Bondye ap pousib li toujou.
5 Pòl annik souke men l', epi bèt la tonbe nan dife a. Li pa t' santi anyen ankò.
6 Lòt moun yo menm t'ap tann pou yo wè Pòl vin anfle osinon pou l' tonbe mouri frèt. Moun yo tann, yo tann. Lè yo wè anyen pa rive l', yo chanje lide, yo di: Nonm sa a, se yon bondye.
7 Toupre bò la, te gen yon bitasyon ki te pou Pibliyis, pi grannèg nan lil la. Li resevwa nou ak kè kontan. Nou fè ladesant lakay li pandan twa jou.
8 Papa Pibliyis te kouche malad ak yon lafyèb ak dyare. Pòl antre ale wè l', li lapriyè, li mete men l' sou tèt li, li geri li.
9 Apre sa, tout lòt moun ki te malad nan lil la te vini tou. Yo tout te geri.
10 Yo fè nou anpil kado. Lè pou n' anbake menm, yo ban nou tou sa nou te bezwen pou vwayaj la.
11 ¶ Apre twa mwa, nou pati nan yon batiman Aleksandri ki te pase tout tan fredi a nan lil la. Yo te rele batiman an Marasa.
12 Lè nou rive Sirakiz, nou rete la pandan twa jou.
13 Lè nou pati, nou lonje kòt la jouk nou rive Rijio. Nan denmen, yon van swèt leve: apre de jou vwayaj nou rive Pouzòl.
14 La, nou jwenn kèk frè ki mande pou n' pase sèt jou ak yo. Se konsa nou rive lavil Wòm.
15 Frè lavil Wòm yo ki te pran nouvèl nou vin kontre nou jouk nan Mache Apiyis ak nan Kalfou Twa Kafe. Lè Pòl wè yo, li di Bondye mèsi, li pran kouraj.
16 Lè nou rive Wòm, yo kite Pòl rete pou kont li ak yon sèl sòlda pou veye li.
17 ¶ Apre twa jou, Pòl fè rele chèf jwif yo ki lavil Wòm. Lè yo reyini, li di yo: Frè m' yo, san m' pa fè anyen kont pèp la, ni kont koutim zansèt nou yo, jwif yo rete konsa, yo arete m' lavil Jerizalèm, yo lage m' nan men women yo.
18 Lè women yo fin keksyonnen m', yo te vle lage m' paske yo pa t' jwenn okenn rezon ki pou ta fè m' merite lanmò.
19 Men, jwif yo kenbe la ak yo. Mwen te blije mande pou Seza tande kòz mwen. Men, mwen menm pou tèt pa m', mwen pa gen okenn plent pou m' fè pou moun menm peyi avè m' yo.
20 Se poutèt sa mwen fè rele nou pou m' wè nou, pou m' pale ak nou, pou m' di nou se poutèt moun pèp Izrayèl t'ap tann lan kifè yo mare m' ak chenn sa a.
21 Yo reponn li: Nou pa resevwa okenn lèt soti peyi Jide sou ou. Okenn frè pa soti laba vin isit pou ban nou nouvèl, ni pou pale mal sou ou.
22 Men, nou ta renmen tande kisa ou gen nan tèt ou, paske nou konnen toupatou yo pa vle wè gwoup ou fè pati a.
23 ¶ Yo fikse l' yon jou. Lè sa a, yo te anpil ki te vin jwenn li kote li te ye a. Depi nan maten jouk nan aswè, Pòl t'ap ba yo esplikasyon: li t'ap fè yo konnen gouvènman Bondye ki wa a. Li pran lalwa Moyiz la ak liv pwofèt yo, li t'ap chache fè yo rekonèt ki moun Jezi ye.
24 Gen ladan yo ki te kwè sa l' t'ap di yo. Men, gen lòt ki pa t' vle kwè menm.
25 Yo vire do yo san yo pa t' tonbe dakò. Lè Pòl wè sa, li ajoute pawòl sa a pou yo: Sentespri te gen rezon pale konsa ak zansèt nou yo nan bouch pwofèt Ezayi, lè l' te di:
26 Ale jwenn pèp sa a, di l' pou mwen: Pou tande n'a tande nan zòrèy nou, men nou p'ap konprann anyen. Pou gade n'a gade ak je nou, men nou p'ap wè.
27 Paske lespri pèp sa a vin lou, yo bouche zòrèy yo, yo fèmen je yo, pou yo pa wè ak je yo, pou yo pa tande nan zòrèy yo, pou yo pa konprann ak lespri yo, pou yo pa tounen vin jwenn mwen pou m' geri yo. Se Bondye menm ki di sa.
28 Apre sa, Pòl di yo: Koulye a, nou fèt pou nou konnen Bondye fè moun lòt nasyon yo konnen l'ap delivre yo tou. Yo menm, y'ap tande li.
29 Lè l' te fin di sa, jwif yo al fè wout yo, yo t'ap diskite yonn ak lòt.
30 ¶ Pòl te rete pandan dezan nan yon kay li te lwe. Li te resevwa tout moun ki te vin wè li.
31 Li t'ap fè konnen gouvènman Bondye ki wa a, li t'ap moutre moun yo tout bagay sou Jezikri, Seyè a, kareman san pesonn pa janm chache l' kont.

28 Lè nou te vin ansekirite sou zile a, nou te aprann zile a te rele Malta. 2 Moun ki te rete la, yo te byen janti avèk nou. Lapli t ap tonbe epi li te fè frèt. Konsa, yo te fè yon gwo dife pou yo te resevwa nou. 3 Pòl te rasanble yon bann branch bwa chèch pou l met nan dife a. Pandan l ap mete branch bwa yo nan dife a, chalè dife a fè yon koulèv vipè ki te nan branch yo te marande nan men Pòl epi li mòde li. 4 Lè moun ki t ap viv sou zile a te wè koulèv la kole nan men Pòl, yo di konsa: “Se sèten, nonm sa a se yon nonm ki konn touye moun! Li pa t mouri nan lanmè a, men dye ki konn fè jistis la pa ba l chans pou l viv.”
5 Men Pòl sekwe koulèv la jete nan dife a epi li pa t gen anyen. 6 Moun yo t ap tann pou Pòl vin anfle epi pou l te tonbe mouri. Yo te t ap gade li epi yo t ap tann pandan lontan, men pa t gen anyen mal ki te rive Pòl. Lè sa a, yo te vin chanje sa yo te panse. Yo te di: “Misye se yon dye!”
7 Tou pre a, te gen yon pwopriyete ki te pou Pibliyis, pi gwo sitwayen zòn nan. Li te resevwa nou tankou zanmi epi li te ban nou kote pou nou fè ladesant. Li te fè sa pandan twa jou. 8 Papa Pibliyis te kouche malad ak la fyèv ak disantri. Pòl te antre lakay li, li priye pou li, li poze men l sou li, epi li geri l. 9 Lè sa a tout moun ki te malad sou zile a te vin jwenn Pòl, epi Pòl geri yo.
10-11 Moun yo te montre anpil respè pou nou. Lè lè a rive pou nou pati, yo ban nou tout sa nou te gen bezwen pou vwayaj la.

Apre twa mwa, nou pati sou yon bato ki te sot Aleksandri. Devan bato a te gen yon siy, se te siy non Bato a “De dye Jimo”[a] ki te pase move tan an sou zile a. 12 Nou rive nan Sirakiz epi nou rete la pandan twa jou. 13 Apre sa, nou swiv kot la rive yon kote yo rele Regyo; yon van sid vin leve nan denmen. 16 Lè nou rive lavil Wòm, yo te bay Pòl pèmisyon pou l te viv pou kont li. Men te gen yon sòlda ki te dwe rete avè l pou siveye l.
17 Apre twa jou, Pòl te envite lidè Jwif yo lakay li. Lè yo te fin reyini ansanm, Pòl di yo, “Frè yo, mwen pa fè anyen ki mal kont pèp nou an oubyen kont koutim zansèt nou yo. Men yo arete m nan Jerizalèm epi yo livre m bay women yo. 18 Mesye yo te poze m anpil kesyon, men yo pa t jwenn yon rezon valab pou touye m, konsa, yo te vle lage m. 19 Men Jwif yo pa t dakò sa. Konsa mwen mande pou m vini Wòm pou plede koz mwen devan Seza. Sa pa vle di m ap akize pèp mwen an kòm si yo ta fè move bagay. 20 Se poutèt sa mwen te vle wè nou epi pale avèk nou. Mwen nan chenn sa a paske mwen kwè nan esperans Izrayèl genyen.”
21 Jwif yo reponn li, “nou pa jwenn okenn lèt ki soti Jide ki pale nou de oumenm. Pa gen menm youn nan kòlèg Jwif yo ki vwayaje soti laba a ki ta pote kèk enfòmasyon sou ou ki ta di yon move bagay sou ou. 22 Nou ta renmen tande sa oumenm ou panse. Se vre, toupatou gen moun k ap pale nouvo gwoup sa a mal.”
23 Pòl chwazi yon jou ak Jwif yo pou yo pale, men jou sa a pi plis Jwif ankò te vini lakay Pòl. Depi maten rive jouk aswè, Pòl t ap eksplike yo epi li t ap preche yo wayòm Bondye a avèk fòs. Li pale yo de Jezi epi li t ap eseye konvenk yo. Pou sa, li te itilize Lalwa Moyiz la ak pwofèt yo pou l te ankouraje yo kwè nan Jezi, men yo pa t kwè. 24 Te gen kèk nan Jwif ki te kwè nan sa Pòl te di, men lòt yo pa t kwè. 25 Lè a te rive pou yo pati, men yo pa t dakò youn ak lòt. Pòl te sèlman di mesye yo: “Sa Sentespri a te di sou zansèt nou yo pa mwayen pwofèt Ezayi a se verite a:
26 Ale kote pèp sa a epi di li:
Ou ap koute sou koute,
men ou p ap konprann anyen.
Ou ap gade sou gade,
men ou p ap wè anyen.
27 Kè pèp sa a vin tounen zanpoud.
Yo bouche zòrèy yo pou yo pa tande,
yo fèmen je yo pou yo pa wè.
Si kè yo pa t tounen zanpoud
yo ta wè ak je yo,
yo ta tande ak zòrèy yo,
yo ta konprann, yo ta tounen vin jwenn mwen,
mwen ta geri yo.[d]
28 Mwen vle fè nou konnen sa, nou menm Jwif, Bondye voye delivrans li a bay moun ki pa Jwif yo. Yo menm y ap koute!” 29 [e]
30 Pòl te rete pase de zan plen nan yon kay li te lwe limenm. Se la li te resevwa tout moun ki te vin rann li vizit. 31 Li t ap preche wayòm Bondye a epi li t ap prezante Jezikris avèk anpil asirans ak tout libète.

Paul Ashore on Malta
28 Once safely on shore, we(A) found out that the island(B) was called Malta. 2 The islanders showed us unusual kindness. They built a fire and welcomed us all because it was raining and cold. 3 Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand. 4 When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand,(C) they said to each other, “This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, the goddess Justice has not allowed him to live.”(D) 5 But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects.(E) 6 The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead; but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.(F)
7 There was an estate nearby that belonged to Publius, the chief official of the island. He welcomed us to his home and showed us generous hospitality for three days. 8 His father was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him and, after prayer,(G) placed his hands on him(H) and healed him.(I) 9 When this had happened, the rest of the sick on the island came and were cured. 10 They honored us(J) in many ways; and when we were ready to sail, they furnished us with the supplies we needed.
Paul’s Arrival at Rome
11 After three months we put out to sea in a ship that had wintered in the island—it was an Alexandrian ship(K) with the figurehead of the twin gods Castor and Pollux. 12 We put in at Syracuse and stayed there three days. 13 From there we set sail and arrived at Rhegium. The next day the south wind came up, and on the following day we reached Puteoli. 14 There we found some brothers and sisters(L) who invited us to spend a week with them. And so we came to Rome. 15 The brothers and sisters(M) there had heard that we were coming, and they traveled as far as the Forum of Appius and the Three Taverns to meet us. At the sight of these people Paul thanked God and was encouraged. 16 When we got to Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with a soldier to guard him.(N)

17 Three days later he called together the local Jewish leaders.(O) When they had assembled, Paul said to them: “My brothers,(P) although I have done nothing against our people(Q) or against the customs of our ancestors,(R) I was arrested in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans. 18 They examined me(S) and wanted to release me,(T) because I was not guilty of any crime deserving death.(U) 19 The Jews objected, so I was compelled to make an appeal to Caesar.(V) I certainly did not intend to bring any charge against my own people. 20 For this reason I have asked to see you and talk with you. It is because of the hope of Israel(W) that I am bound with this chain.”(X)
21 They replied, “We have not received any letters from Judea concerning you, and none of our people(Y) who have come from there has reported or said anything bad about you. 22 But we want to hear what your views are, for we know that people everywhere are talking against this sect.”(Z)
23 They arranged to meet Paul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying. He witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining about the kingdom of God,(AA) and from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets(AB) he tried to persuade them about Jesus.(AC) 24 Some were convinced by what he said, but others would not believe.(AD) 25 They disagreed among themselves and began to leave after Paul had made this final statement: “The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your ancestors when he said(AE) through Isaiah the prophet:
26 “‘Go to this people and say,
“You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.”
27 For this people’s heart has become calloused;(AF)
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’[a](AG)
28 “Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation(AH) has been sent to the Gentiles,(AI) and they will listen!” [29] [b]
30 For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. 31 He proclaimed the kingdom of God(AJ) and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness(AK) and without hindrance!
