3 1 He willeth that all generally be put in mind to reverence such as be in authority: 3 That they remember their former life, and attribute all justification unto grace. 9 And if any brabbler withstand these things, 10 he willeth that he be rejected.
1 Put [a]them in remembrance that they (A)be subject to the principalities and powers, and that they be obedient, and ready to every good work.
2 That they speak evil of no man, that they be no fighters, but soft, showing all meekness unto all men.
3 (B)[b] For we ourselves also were in times past unwise, disobedient, deceived, serving the lusts and divers pleasures, living in maliciousness and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4 But when that bountifulness and that love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
5 (C)Not by the works of [c]righteousness, which we had done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of the new birth, and the renewing of the [d]holy Ghost,
6 Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 That we, being justified by his grace, should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8 [e]This is a true saying, and these things I will thou shouldest affirm, that they which have believed God, might be careful to show forth [f]good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
9 (D)But stay foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and brawlings about the Law: for they are unprofitable and vain.
10 [g]Reject him that is an heretic, after once or twice admonition,
11 Knowing that he that is such, is perverted, and sinneth, being damned of his own self.
12 [h]When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me unto Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.
13 Bring Zenas the expounder of the Law, and Apollos on their journey diligently, that they lack nothing.
14 And let ours also learn to show forth good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
15 All that are with me, salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
¶ To Titus, elect the first Bishop of the Church of the Cretans, written from Nicopolis in Macedonia.

3 (A)Remind them (B)to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be (C)ready for every good deed, 2 to malign no one, (D)to be peaceable, (E)gentle, (F)showing every consideration for all men. 3 (G)For we also once were foolish ourselves, (H)disobedient, (I)deceived, (J)enslaved to (K)various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in (L)malice and (M)envy, hateful, hating one another. 4 But when the (N)kindness of (O)God our Savior and His love for mankind (P)appeared, 5 (Q)He saved us, (R)not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but (S)according to His mercy, by the (T)washing of regeneration and (U)renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 (V)whom He poured out upon us (W)richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made (X)heirs [a]according to the hope of eternal life. 8 (Y)This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I (Z)want you to speak confidently, so that those who have (AA)believed God will be careful to (AB)engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men. 9 But (AC)avoid (AD)foolish controversies and (AE)genealogies and strife and (AF)disputes about the Law, for they are (AG)unprofitable and worthless. 10 (AH)Reject a (AI)factious man (AJ)after a first and second warning, 11 knowing that such a man is (AK)perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned.
Personal Concerns
12 When I send Artemas or (AL)Tychicus to you, (AM)make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to (AN)spend the winter there. 13 Diligently help Zenas the (AO)lawyer and (AP)Apollos on their way so that nothing is lacking for them. 14 (AQ)Our people must also learn to (AR)engage in good [b]deeds to meet (AS)pressing needs, so that they will not be (AT)unfruitful.
15 (AU)All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us (AV)in the faith.

La conducta del creyente
3 Recuérdales a todos que deben mostrarse obedientes y sumisos ante los gobernantes y las autoridades. Siempre deben estar dispuestos a hacer lo bueno: 2 a no hablar mal de nadie, sino a buscar la paz y ser respetuosos, demostrando plena humildad en su trato con todo el mundo.
3 En otro tiempo también nosotros éramos necios y desobedientes. Estábamos descarriados y éramos esclavos de todo género de pasiones y placeres. Vivíamos en la malicia y en la envidia. Éramos detestables y nos odiábamos unos a otros. 4 Pero, cuando se manifestaron la bondad y el amor de Dios nuestro Salvador, 5 él nos salvó, no por nuestras propias obras de justicia, sino por su misericordia. Nos salvó mediante el lavamiento de la regeneración y de la renovación por el Espíritu Santo, 6 el cual fue derramado abundantemente sobre nosotros por medio de Jesucristo nuestro Salvador. 7 Así lo hizo para que, justificados por su gracia, llegáramos a ser herederos que abrigan la esperanza de recibir la vida eterna. 8 Este mensaje es digno de confianza, y quiero que lo recalques, para que los que han creído en Dios se empeñen en hacer buenas obras. Esto es excelente y provechoso para todos.
9 Evita las necias controversias y genealogías, las discusiones y peleas sobre la ley, porque carecen de provecho y de sentido. 10 Al que cause divisiones, amonéstalo dos veces, y después evítalo. 11 Puedes estar seguro de que tal individuo se condena a sí mismo por ser un perverso pecador.

12 Tan pronto como te haya enviado a Artemas o a Tíquico, haz todo lo posible por ir a Nicópolis a verme, pues he decidido pasar allí el invierno. 13 Ayuda en todo lo que puedas al abogado Zenas y a Apolos, de modo que no les falte nada para su viaje. 14 Que aprendan los nuestros a empeñarse en hacer buenas obras, a fin de que atiendan a lo que es realmente necesario y no lleven una vida inútil.
15 Saludos de parte de todos los que me acompañan. Saludos a los que nos aman en la fe.

Saved in Order to Do Good
3 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities,(A) to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good,(B) 2 to slander no one,(C) to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.
3 At one time(D) we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness(E) and love of God our Savior(F) appeared,(G) 5 he saved us,(H) not because of righteous things we had done,(I) but because of his mercy.(J) He saved us through the washing(K) of rebirth and renewal(L) by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us(M) generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace,(N) we might become heirs(O) having the hope(P) of eternal life.(Q) 8 This is a trustworthy saying.(R) And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good.(S) These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
9 But avoid(T) foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels(U) about the law,(V) because these are unprofitable and useless.(W) 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.(X) 11 You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.
Final Remarks
12 As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus(Y) to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, because I have decided to winter there.(Z) 13 Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos(AA) on their way and see that they have everything they need. 14 Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good,(AB) in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.
