7 so that, having been justified[a] by his grace, we might become heirs in keeping with the hope of eternal life.
8 This saying is trustworthy. And I want you to insist on these things, so that those who believe in God are intent on keeping busy with good works. These things are honorable and useful for the people. 9 But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, rivalries, and quarrels about the law, because these are useless and fruitless.

7 so that, having been justified by his grace,(A) we might become heirs(B) having the hope(C) of eternal life.(D) 8 This is a trustworthy saying.(E) And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good.(F) These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
9 But avoid(G) foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels(H) about the law,(I) because these are unprofitable and useless.(J)

9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
