⁴ But when ^(A)the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,

⁴ But^[a] God, being ^(A)rich in mercy, ^(B)because of the great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even ^(C)when we were dead in our trespasses, ^(D)made us alive together with Christ—^(E)by grace you have been saved— ⁶ and raised us up with him and ^(F)seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable ^(G)riches of his grace in ^(H)kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. ⁸ For ^(I)by grace you have been saved ^(J)through faith. And this is ^(K)not your own doing; ^(L)it is the gift of God, ^9 (M)not a result of works, ^(N)so that no one may boast. ¹⁰ For ^(O)we are his workmanship, ^(P)created in Christ Jesus ^(Q)for good works, ^(R)which God prepared beforehand, ^(S)that we should walk in them.

¹⁰ not pilfering, ^(A)but showing all good faith, ^(B)so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.

¹¹ For ^(C)the grace of God ^(D)has appeared, bringing salvation ^(E)for all people,

¹⁰ For to this end we toil and strive,^[a] because we have our hope set on the living God, ^(A)who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

²⁰ Now ^(A)the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, ^(B)grace abounded all the more, ²¹ so that, ^(C)as sin reigned in death, ^(D)grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²⁶ for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, ^(A)he has appeared ^(B)once for all ^(C)at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

⁴ Or do you presume on ^(A)the riches of his kindness and ^(B)forbearance and ^(C)patience, ^(D)not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

¹⁰ and which now has ^(A)been manifested through ^(B)the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, ^(C)who abolished death and ^(D)brought life and ^(E)immortality to light through the gospel,

³ and ^(A)at the proper time manifested in his word^{[a] (B)}through the preaching ^(C)with which I have been entrusted ^(D)by the command of God our Savior;
