² that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience;

^23 [a]gentleness, self-control. ^(A)Against such there is no law.

Serving for God’s Glory

⁷ But ^(A)the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

¹¹ Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not ^[a]slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

¹³ This testimony is true. ^(A)Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

² A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach;

⁸ Be ^[a]sober, be ^[b]vigilant; ^[c]because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

⁸ But let us who are of the day be sober, ^(A)putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

Serve God with Spiritual Gifts

³ For I say, ^(A)through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, ^(B)not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt ^(C)to each one a measure of faith.
