13 This testimony is true.(A) For this reason, rebuke them sharply,(B) so that they may be sound in the faith 14 and may not pay attention to Jewish myths(C) and the commands of people who reject the truth.(D)

15 To the pure, everything is pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; in fact, both their mind and conscience(E) are defiled. 16 They claim to know God,(F) but they deny him by their works.(G) They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.(H)

Sound Teaching and Christian Living

But you are to proclaim things consistent with sound teaching.(I)

13 This testimony is true, for which reason reprove them severely, in order that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of people who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure, but both their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny him, because they[a] are detestable and disobedient, and unfit for every good deed.

Sound Instruction and Consistent Behavior

But you, speak the things which are fitting for sound instruction.
