¹⁶ They profess to ^(A)know God, but ^(B)in works they deny Him, being ^[a]abominable, disobedient, ^(C)and disqualified for every good work.

⁴ He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a ^(A)liar, and the truth is not in him.

¹³ Therefore the Lord said:

⁶ Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

³¹ So ^(A)they come to you as people do, they ^(B)sit before you as My people, and they ^(C)hear your words, but they do not do them; ^(D)for with their mouth they show much love, but ^(E)their hearts pursue their own gain.

^5 (A)having a form of godliness but ^(B)denying its power. And ^(C)from such people turn away! ⁶ For ^(D)of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, ⁷ always learning and never able ^(E)to come to the knowledge of the truth. ^8 (F)Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: ^(G)men of corrupt minds, ^(H)disapproved concerning the faith;

⁴ For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord ^[a]God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁸ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things ^(A)which are not fitting;

²⁷ But ^(A)there shall by no means enter it anything ^[a]that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s ^(B)Book of Life.
