¹⁴ not paying attention to Jewish myths or to commandments of those who reject the truth.^(A)

⁴ and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths.

²² All these regulations refer to things that perish with use; they are simply human commands and teachings.^(A)

²² It has happened to them according to the true proverb,

and,

⁹ Now, however, that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and beggarly elemental principles?^[a] How can you want to be enslaved to them again?^(A)

⁴ and not to occupy themselves with myths and endless genealogies that promote speculations rather than the divine training^[a] that is known by faith.^{(A) 5} But the aim of such instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith.^{(B) 6} Some people have deviated from these and turned to meaningless talk, ⁷ desiring to be teachers of the law without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make assertions.

²⁵ See that you do not refuse the one who is speaking, for if they did not escape when they refused the one who warned them on earth, how much less will we escape if we reject the one who warns from heaven!^(A)
