New Living Translation
8 This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial for everyone.
9 Do not get involved in foolish discussions about spiritual pedigrees[a] or in quarrels and fights about obedience to Jewish laws. These things are useless and a waste of time.

8 This is a trustworthy saying.(A) And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good.(B) These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
9 But avoid(C) foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels(D) about the law,(E) because these are unprofitable and useless.(F)
