Titus 3:3-8

New Living Translation

³Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other. ⁴But—

When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, ⁵he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.^[a] ⁶He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. ⁷Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.

⁸This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial for everyone.

³For ^(A)we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. ⁴But when ^(B)the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, ⁵he saved us, ^(C)not because of works done by us in righteousness, but ^(D)according to his own mercy, by ^(E)the washing of regeneration and ^(F)renewal of the Holy Spirit, ⁶whom he ^(G)poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, ⁷so that ^(H)being justified by his grace we might become ^(I)heirs ^(J)according to the hope of eternal life. ⁸The saying is ^(K)trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful ^(L)to devote themselves to good works.
