For (A)we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when (B)the kindness and the love of (C)God our Savior toward man appeared, (D)not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through (E)the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, (F)whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace (G)we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

(H)This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

But when the kindness(B) and love of God our Savior(C) appeared,(D) he saved us,(E) not because of righteous things we had done,(F) but because of his mercy.(G) He saved us through the washing(H) of rebirth and renewal(I) by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us(J) generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace,(K) we might become heirs(L) having the hope(M) of eternal life.(N) This is a trustworthy saying.(O) And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good.(P) These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
