3 At one time(A) we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.

9 But (A)avoid foolish (B)controversies, (C)genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for (D)they are unprofitable and worthless. 10 As for a person who stirs up division, (E)after warning him once and then twice, (F)have nothing more to do with him, 11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.
