2 Tu però insegna ciò che è secondo la sana dottrina: 2 i vecchi siano sobri, dignitosi, assennati, saldi nella fede, nell'amore e nella pazienza. 3 Ugualmente le donne anziane si comportino in maniera degna dei credenti; non siano maldicenti né schiave di molto vino; sappiano piuttosto insegnare il bene, 4 per formare le giovani all'amore del marito e dei figli, 5 ad essere prudenti, caste, dedite alla famiglia, buone, sottomesse ai propri mariti, perché la parola di Dio non debba diventare oggetto di biasimo.
6 Esorta ancora i più giovani a essere assennati, 7 offrendo te stesso come esempio in tutto di buona condotta, con purezza di dottrina, dignità, 8 linguaggio sano e irreprensibile, perché il nostro avversario resti confuso, non avendo nulla di male da dire sul conto nostro. 9 Esorta gli schiavi a esser sottomessi in tutto ai loro padroni; li accontentino e non li contraddicano, 10 non rubino, ma dimostrino fedeltà assoluta, per fare onore in tutto alla dottrina di Dio, nostro salvatore.
Fondamento dogmatico di queste esigenze
11 E' apparsa infatti la grazia di Dio, apportatrice di salvezza per tutti gli uomini, 12 che ci insegna a rinnegare l'empietà e i desideri mondani e a vivere con sobrietà, giustizia e pietà in questo mondo, 13 nell'attesa della beata speranza e della manifestazione della gloria del nostro grande Dio e salvatore Gesù Cristo; 14 il quale ha dato se stesso per noi, per riscattarci da ogni iniquità e formarsi un popolo puro che gli appartenga, zelante nelle opere buone.
15 Questo devi insegnare, raccomandare e rimproverare con tutta autorità. Nessuno osi disprezzarti!

Qualities of a Sound Church
2 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: 2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, (A)homemakers, good, (B)obedient to their own husbands, (C)that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be (D)a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, (E)incorruptibility,[a] 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of [b]you.
9 Exhort (F)bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back, 10 not [c]pilfering, but showing all good [d]fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.
Trained by Saving Grace
11 For (G)the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 (H)looking for the blessed (I)hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 (J)who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed (K)and purify for Himself (L)His own special people, zealous for good works.
15 Speak these things, (M)exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

当如何规劝老幼男女和仆人
2 但你所讲的，总要合乎那纯正的道理。 2 劝老年人要有节制，端庄，自守，在信心、爱心、忍耐上都要纯全无疵。 3 又劝老年妇人举止行动要恭敬，不说谗言，不给酒做奴仆，用善道教训人， 4 好指教少年妇人爱丈夫，爱儿女， 5 谨守，贞洁，料理家务，待人有恩，顺服自己的丈夫，免得神的道理被毁谤。 6 又劝少年人要谨守。 7 你自己凡事要显出善行的榜样，在教训上要正直、端庄、 8 言语纯全、无可指责，叫那反对的人既无处可说我们的不是，便自觉羞愧。 9 劝仆人要顺服自己的主人，凡事讨他的喜欢，不可顶撞他， 10 不可私拿东西，要显为忠诚，以致凡事尊荣我们救主神的道。 11 因为神救众人的恩典已经显明出来， 12 教训我们除去不敬虔的心和世俗的情欲，在今世自守、公义、敬虔度日， 13 等候所盼望的福，并等候至大的神和[a]我们救主耶稣基督的荣耀显现。
救主舍己的缘故
14 他为我们舍了自己，要赎我们脱离一切罪恶，又洁净我们，特做自己的子民，热心为善。
15 这些事你要讲明，劝诫人，用各等权柄责备人，不可叫人轻看你。
