1 Pablo, siervo de Dios(A) y apóstol de Jesucristo(B), conforme a[a] la fe de los escogidos de Dios(C) y al pleno conocimiento de la verdad(D) que es según la piedad(E), 2 con la esperanza de vida eterna(F), la cual Dios, que no miente(G), prometió(H) desde los tiempos eternos(I), 3 y manifestó a su debido tiempo(J) su palabra por la predicación(K) que me fue confiada[b](L) conforme al mandamiento(M) de Dios nuestro Salvador(N), 4 a Tito(O), verdadero hijo(P) en[c] la común fe(Q): Gracia y paz de parte de Dios el Padre(R) y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Salvador(S).
Requisitos para ancianos y obispos
5 Por esta causa te dejé en Creta(T), para que pusieras en orden lo que queda, y designaras(U) ancianos en cada ciudad como te mandé(V), 6 esto es, si alguno es irreprensible(W), marido de una sola mujer(X), que tenga hijos creyentes, no acusados de disolución(Y) ni de rebeldía(Z). 7 Porque el obispo[d] debe ser irreprensible(AA) como administrador de Dios(AB), no obstinado(AC), no iracundo, no dado a la bebida[e](AD), no pendenciero, no amante de ganancias deshonestas(AE), 8 sino hospitalario(AF), amante de lo bueno(AG), prudente, justo, santo, dueño de sí mismo, 9 reteniendo la palabra fiel(AH) que es conforme a la enseñanza, para que sea capaz también de exhortar con sana doctrina(AI) y refutar a los que contradicen.
Los falsos maestros censurados
10 Porque hay muchos(AJ) rebeldes(AK), habladores vanos(AL) y engañadores, especialmente los de la circuncisión(AM), 11 a quienes es preciso tapar la boca, porque[f] están trastornando familias[g](AN) enteras, enseñando, por ganancias(AO) deshonestas, cosas que no deben(AP). 12 Uno de ellos, su propio profeta, dijo: Los cretenses son siempre mentirosos, malas bestias, glotones ociosos(AQ). 13 Este testimonio es verdadero. Por eso, repréndelos(AR) severamente(AS) para que sean sanos en la fe(AT), 14 no prestando atención a mitos judaicos(AU) y a mandamientos de hombres(AV) que se apartan de la verdad(AW). 15 Todas las cosas son puras para los puros(AX), mas para los corrompidos e incrédulos nada es puro(AY), sino que tanto su mente como su conciencia están corrompidas(AZ). 16 Profesan conocer a Dios(BA), pero con sus hechos lo niegan(BB), siendo abominables(BC) y desobedientes(BD) e inútiles(BE) para cualquier obra buena(BF).

Salutación
1 Pablo, siervo de Dios y apóstol de Jesucristo, conforme a la fe de los escogidos de Dios y el conocimiento de la verdad que es según la piedad, 2 en la esperanza de la vida eterna, la cual Dios, que no miente, prometió desde antes del principio de los siglos, 3 y a su debido tiempo manifestó su palabra por medio de la predicación que me fue encomendada por mandato de Dios nuestro Salvador, 4 a Tito,(A) verdadero hijo en la común fe: Gracia, misericordia y paz, de Dios Padre y del Señor Jesucristo nuestro Salvador.

5 Por esta causa te dejé en Creta, para que corrigieses lo deficiente, y establecieses ancianos en cada ciudad, así como yo te mandé; 6 el que fuere irreprensible, marido de una sola mujer, y tenga hijos creyentes que no estén acusados de disolución ni de rebeldía. 7 Porque es necesario que el obispo sea irreprensible, como administrador de Dios; no soberbio, no iracundo, no dado al vino, no pendenciero, no codicioso de ganancias deshonestas, 8 sino hospedador, amante de lo bueno, sobrio, justo, santo, dueño de sí mismo, 9 retenedor de la palabra fiel tal como ha sido enseñada, para que también pueda exhortar con sana enseñanza y convencer a los que contradicen.(B) 10 Porque hay aún muchos contumaces, habladores de vanidades y engañadores, mayormente los de la circuncisión, 11 a los cuales es preciso tapar la boca; que trastornan casas enteras, enseñando por ganancia deshonesta lo que no conviene. 12 Uno de ellos, su propio profeta, dijo: Los cretenses, siempre mentirosos, malas bestias, glotones ociosos. 13 Este testimonio es verdadero; por tanto, repréndelos duramente, para que sean sanos en la fe, 14 no atendiendo a fábulas judaicas, ni a mandamientos de hombres que se apartan de la verdad. 15 Todas las cosas son puras para los puros, mas para los corrompidos e incrédulos nada les es puro; pues hasta su mente y su conciencia están corrompidas. 16 Profesan conocer a Dios, pero con los hechos lo niegan, siendo abominables y rebeldes, reprobados en cuanto a toda buena obra.

1 Paul, (A)a slave of God and an (B)apostle of Jesus Christ, [a]for the faith of God’s (C)elect and (D)the full knowledge of the truth which is (E)according to godliness, 2 in (F)the hope of eternal life, which the God (G)who cannot lie (H)promised [b](I)from all eternity, 3 but (J)at the proper time manifested His word in (K)preaching, (L)with which I was entrusted (M)according to the commandment of (N)God our Savior,
4 To (O)Titus, (P)my genuine child according to our (Q)common faith: (R)Grace and peace from God the Father and (S)Christ Jesus our Savior.
Qualifications of Elders
5 For this reason I left you in (T)Crete, that you would set in order what remains and (U)appoint (V)elders in every city as I directed you, 6 namely, (W)if any man is beyond reproach, the (X)husband of one wife, having faithful children, who are not accused of (Y)dissipation, or (Z)rebellious. 7 For the [c](AA)overseer must be beyond reproach as (AB)God’s steward, not (AC)self-willed, not quick-tempered, not (AD)addicted to wine, not pugnacious, (AE)not fond of dishonest gain, 8 but (AF)hospitable, (AG)loving what is good, sensible, righteous, holy, self-controlled, 9 (AH)holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in (AI)sound doctrine and to reprove those who contradict.
10 (AJ)For there are many (AK)rebellious men, (AL)empty talkers and deceivers, especially (AM)those of the circumcision, 11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting (AN)whole families, teaching (AO)things they should not teach (AP)for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, “(AQ)Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. For this reason (AR)reprove them (AS)severely so that they may be (AT)sound in the faith, 14 not paying attention to Jewish (AU)myths and (AV)commandments of men who (AW)turn away from the truth. 15 (AX)To the pure, all things are pure, but (AY)to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their (AZ)mind and their conscience are defiled. 16 (BA)They profess to know God, but by their works they (BB)deny Him, being (BC)detestable and (BD)disobedient and (BE)unfit (BF)for any good work.

1 Paul, a servant of God(A) and an apostle(B) of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth(C) that leads to godliness(D)— 2 in the hope of eternal life,(E) which God, who does not lie,(F) promised before the beginning of time,(G) 3 and which now at his appointed season(H) he has brought to light(I) through the preaching entrusted to me(J) by the command of God(K) our Savior,(L)
4 To Titus,(M) my true son(N) in our common faith:
Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.(O)
Appointing Elders Who Love What Is Good(P)
5 The reason I left you in Crete(Q) was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint[a] elders(R) in every town, as I directed you. 6 An elder must be blameless,(S) faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe[b] and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7 Since an overseer(T) manages God’s household,(U) he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.(V) 8 Rather, he must be hospitable,(W) one who loves what is good,(X) who is self-controlled,(Y) upright, holy and disciplined. 9 He must hold firmly(Z) to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine(AA) and refute those who oppose it.
Rebuking Those Who Fail to Do Good
10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk(AB) and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.(AC) 11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households(AD) by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of Crete’s own prophets(AE) has said it: “Cretans(AF) are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”[c] 13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke(AG) them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith(AH) 14 and will pay no attention to Jewish myths(AI) or to the merely human commands(AJ) of those who reject the truth.(AK) 15 To the pure, all things are pure,(AL) but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure.(AM) In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.(AN) 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him.(AO) They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.(AP)
