2 Toi, au contraire, parle selon ce qui est conforme à l’enseignement sain. 2 Dis aux hommes âgés de faire preuve de modération, d’être respectables, réfléchis, et d’exercer une saine pratique de la foi, de l’amour et de la persévérance.
3 Qu’il en soit de même des femmes âgées : qu’elles aient un comportement digne de Dieu ; qu’elles ne soient pas médisantes ni adonnées à la boisson. Qu’elles s’attachent plutôt à enseigner le bien[a] : 4 qu’elles apprennent aux jeunes femmes à aimer leur mari et leurs enfants, 5 à agir de manière réfléchie et pure, à assumer leurs tâches domestiques, à faire preuve de bonté et à être soumises à leur mari. Ainsi la Parole de Dieu ne sera pas discréditée.
6 Recommande aussi aux jeunes gens d’agir de manière réfléchie. 7 Sois toi-même en tout un modèle d’œuvres bonnes. Que ton enseignement soit fidèle et qu’il inspire le respect. 8 Que ta prédication soit saine et inattaquable, afin que même nos adversaires soient couverts de honte, ne trouvant aucun mal à dire de nous.
9 Aux esclaves, tu recommanderas d’être soumis à leurs maîtres en toutes choses. Qu’ils cherchent à leur donner satisfaction, qu’ils évitent de les contredire 10 et se gardent de toute fraude ; qu’ils se montrent au contraire dignes d’une entière confiance. Ainsi ils rendront attrayant l’enseignement de Dieu notre Sauveur.
La grâce, source du salut
11 En effet, la grâce de Dieu s’est révélée comme une source de salut pour tous les hommes. 12 Elle nous éduque et nous amène à nous détourner de tout mépris de Dieu et à rejeter les passions des gens de ce monde. Ainsi nous pourrons mener, dans le temps présent, une vie équilibrée, juste et empreinte de piété, 13 en attendant que se réalise notre bienheureuse espérance : la révélation de la gloire de Jésus-Christ, notre grand Dieu et Sauveur. 14 Il s’est livré lui-même pour nous, afin de nous délivrer de toute désobéissance et de faire de nous, en nous purifiant ainsi, un peuple qui lui appartienne et qui mette toute son ardeur à accomplir des œuvres bonnes.
15 Voilà ce que tu dois enseigner, dans quel sens il te faut encourager et reprendre les gens. Fais-le avec une pleine autorité. Que personne ne te traite avec mépris.

2 Apan ikaw Tito, kinahanglan nga magtudlo ka sumala sa husto nga pagtulon-an. 2 Tudloi ang hamtong nga mga lalaki sa pagpugong sa ilang kaugalingon. Kinahanglan nga mahimo silang talahuron, makatimbang-timbang sila kon unsa ang maayo o dili, lig-on ang ilang pagtuo, mahigugmaon sa ilang isigka-tawo, ug mainantuson sa tanan nga higayon. 3 Ug tudloi usab ang hamtong nga mga babaye nga kinahanglan nga maayo ang ilang paggawi isip mga tumutuo sa Dios. Kinahanglan nga dili sila mga libakira o palainom. Kinahanglan nga itudlo nila ang maayo, 4 aron makatuon ang mga batan-on nga mga babaye kon unsaon nila paghigugma ang ilang mga bana ug mga kabataan, 5 ug kon unsaon nila pagtimbang-timbang kon unsa ang maayo o dili, ug aron sila makatuon sa pagkinabuhi nga putli, sa pag-atiman sa panimalay, sa pagbinuotan, ug sa pagpasakop sa ilang bana, aron nga walay makasulti ug daotan batok sa pulong sa Dios nga atong gitudlo.
6 Dasiga usab ang mga batan-on nga mga lalaki nga magtimbang-timbang kon unsa ang maayo o dili. 7 Kinahanglan nga mahimo ka nilang panig-ingnan sa pagbuhat ug maayo. Pagmatinud-anon ka ug pagseryoso sa imong pagtudlo. 8 Siguroha nga ang imong gipanulti husto ug dili masaway, aron ang mga tawo nga nakigbatok kanato maulawan, ug wala silay ikasulti nga daotan mahitungod kanato.
9 Tudloi usab ang mga ulipon nga kinahanglang magmatinumanon sila kanunay aron malipay ang ilang mga agalon. Dili sila magsupak-supak o magtubag-tubag. 10 Ingna usab sila nga dili mangawat sa butang sa ilang agalon, hinuon magpakita nga sila maayo ug kasaligan, aron nga pinaagi sa tanan nilang mga gibuhat moingon ang mga tawo nga maayo gayod ang atong mga pagtulon-an mahitungod sa Dios nga atong Manluluwas.
11 Kay gipakita na sa Dios sa tanang matang sa katawhan ang iyang grasya nga nagahatag ug kaluwasan. 12 Ug kini nga grasya nagatudlo kanato nga kinahanglang isalikway na nato ang pagkinabuhi nga dili diosnon ug ang mga kalibotanon nga mga pang-ibog. Kinahanglan magkinabuhi kita dinhi niining kalibotan nga mahibalo motimbang-timbang kon unsa ang maayo o dili. Ug kinahanglan nga matarong ug diosnon ang atong binuhatan 13 samtang nagahulat kita sa malipayon nga adlaw nga atong gilaoman nga mao ang kahibulongang pagbalik ni Jesu-Cristo nga atong Manluluwas ug makagagahom nga Dios. 14 Gitugyan niya ang iyang kaugalingon aron maluwas kita gikan sa tanan natong mga sala, ug aron mahimo kitang iyang katawhan, nga hinlo ug madasigon gayod sa pagbuhat ug maayo.
15 Itudlo kini nga mga butang kanila, ug gamita ang imong katungod samtang ginadasig mo ug ginabadlong ang mga nagapaminaw kanimo. Ayaw buhata ang bisan unsa nga mahimong hinungdan nga tamayon ka sa uban.

Doing Good for the Sake of the Gospel
2 You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.(A) 2 Teach the older men(B) to be temperate,(C) worthy of respect, self-controlled,(D) and sound in faith,(E) in love and in endurance.
3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers(F) or addicted to much wine,(G) but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women(H) to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled(I) and pure, to be busy at home,(J) to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands,(K) so that no one will malign the word of God.(L)
6 Similarly, encourage the young men(M) to be self-controlled.(N) 7 In everything set them an example(O) by doing what is good.(P) In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.(Q)
9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything,(R) to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior(S) attractive.(T)
11 For the grace(U) of God has appeared(V) that offers salvation to all people.(W) 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions,(X) and to live self-controlled,(Y) upright and godly lives(Z) in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing(AA) of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,(AB) 14 who gave himself for us(AC) to redeem us from all wickedness(AD) and to purify(AE) for himself a people that are his very own,(AF) eager to do what is good.(AG)
15 These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
