142 (Mashkil of Dovid; A tefillah when he was in the me’arah) I cried out unto Hashem with my voice; with my voice unto Hashem did I make my techinnah (supplication).

(3) I poured out my complaint before Him; I showed before Him my tzoros.

(4) When my ruach became faint within me, then Thou had da’as of my path. In the way wherein I walked have they laid a pach (snare, hidden trap) for me.

(5) I looked on my right, and behold, there was no man that would know me; refuge failed me; no man cared for my nefesh.

(6) I cried unto Thee, Hashem; I said, Thou art my refuge and my chelek (portion) in the Eretz HaChayyim.

(7) Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low; save me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

(8) Release my nefesh from prison, to praise Shemecha (Thy Name); the tzaddikim shall gather about me; for Thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

Masquilde David. Cuando estaba en la cueva. Oración.

142 A voz en cuello, al Señor pido ayuda;
    a voz en cuello, al Señor pido compasión.
Ante él expongo mi queja;
    ante él expreso mi angustia.

Cuando ya no me queda aliento,
    tú me muestras el camino.
Por la senda que transito
    algunos me han tendido una trampa.
Mira a mi derecha y ve:
    nadie me tiende la mano.
No tengo dónde refugiarme;
    por mí nadie se preocupa.

A ti, Señor, te pido ayuda;
    a ti te digo: «Tú eres mi refugio,
    mi porción en la tierra de los vivientes».

Atiende a mi clamor,
    porque me siento muy débil;
líbrame de mis perseguidores,
    porque son más fuertes que yo.
Sácame de la prisión,
    para que alabe yo tu nombre.
Los justos se reunirán en torno mío
    por la bondad que me has mostrado.

142 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.

I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.
