Gott achtet auf der Menschen Tun

16 Die Entwürfe des Herzens sind des Menschen Sache;
aber die Rede des Mundes kommt vom Herrn.
2 Alle Wege des Menschen sind rein in seinen Augen;
aber der Herr prüft die Geister.
3 Befiehl dem Herrn deine Werke,
so kommen deine Pläne zustande.
4 Alles hat der Herr zu seinem bestimmten Zweck gemacht,
sogar den Gottlosen für den bösen Tag.
5 Alle stolzen Herzen sind dem Herrn ein Greuel;
die Hand darauf! sie bleiben nicht ungestraft.
6 Durch Gnade und Wahrheit wird Schuld gesühnt,
und durch die Furcht des Herrn weicht man vom Bösen.
7 Wenn jemandes Wege dem Herrn wohlgefallen,
so macht er auch seine Feinde mit ihm zufrieden.
8 Besser wenig mit Gerechtigkeit,
als ein großes Einkommen mit Unrecht.
9 Des Menschen Herz denkt sich einen Weg aus;
aber der Herr lenkt seine Schritte.
10 Weissagung ist auf den Lippen des Königs;
beim Rechtsprechen verfehlt sich sein Mund nicht.
11 Gesetzliches Maß und Gewicht kommen vom Herrn;
alle Gewichtsteine im Beutel sind sein Werk.
12 Freveltaten sind den Königen ein Greuel;
denn durch Gerechtigkeit wird ein Thron befestigt.
13 Gerechte Lippen gefallen den Königen wohl,
und wer aufrichtig redet, macht sich beliebt.
14 Des Königs Zorn ist ein Todesengel;
aber ein weiser Mann versöhnt ihn.
15 Im Leuchten des königlichen Angesichts ist Leben,
und seine Gunst ist wie eine Wolke des Spätregens.
16 Wieviel besser ist's, Weisheit zu erwerben als Gold,
und Verstand zu erwerben ist begehrenswerter als Silber!
17 Die Bahn der Redlichen bleibt vom Bösen fern;
denn wer seine Seele hütet, gibt acht auf seinen Weg.
18 Vor dem Zusammenbruch wird man stolz,
und Hochmut kommt vor dem Fall.
19 Besser demütig sein mit dem Geringen,
als Beute teilen mit den Stolzen.
20 Wer auf das Wort achtet, findet Glück;
und wohl dem, der auf den Herrn vertraut!
21 Wer weisen Herzens ist, wird verständig genannt;
und Süßigkeit der Lippen verstärkt die Belehrung.
22 Wer Klugheit besitzt, hat eine Quelle des Lebens;
aber mit ihrer Dummheit strafen sich die Narren selbst.
23 Wer weisen Herzens ist, spricht vernünftig
und mehrt auf seinen Lippen die Belehrung.
24 Freundliche Reden sind wie Honigseim,
süß der Seele und heilsam dem Gebein.
25 Ein Weg mag dem Menschen richtig erscheinen,
und schließlich ist es doch der Weg zum Tod.
26 Die Seele des Arbeiters läßt es sich sauer werden;
denn sein Hunger treibt ihn an.
27 Ein Nichtsnutz gräbt Unglücksgruben,
und auf seinen Lippen brennt es wie Feuer.
28 Ein verdrehter Mann richtet Hader an,
und ein Ohrenbläser trennt vertraute Freunde. -
29 Ein frecher Mensch überredet seinen Nächsten
und führt ihn einen Weg, der nicht gut ist.
30 Wer die Augen verschließt, denkt verkehrt;
wer die Lippen zukneift, hat Böses vollbracht.
31 Graue Haare sind eine Krone der Ehren;
sie wird gefunden auf dem Wege der Gerechtigkeit.
32 Besser ein Langmütiger als ein Starker,
und wer sich selbst beherrscht, als wer Städte gewinnt.
33 Im Busen [des Gewandes] wird das Los geworfen;
aber vom Herrn kommt jeder Entscheid.

16 The plans of the heart belong to man,
    but (A)the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
2 (B)All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes,
    but the Lord (C)weighs the spirit.[a]
3 (D)Commit your work to the Lord,
    and your plans will be established.
4 (E)The Lord has made everything for its purpose,
    even (F)the wicked for the day of trouble.
5 Everyone who is arrogant in heart is (G)an abomination to the Lord;
    (H)be assured, he will not go unpunished.
6 By (I)steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for,
    and by (J)the fear of the Lord one (K)turns away from evil.
7 When a man's ways please the Lord,
    (L)he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 (M)Better is a little with righteousness
    than great revenues with injustice.
9 (N)The heart of man plans his way,
    but (O)the Lord establishes his steps.
10 (P)An oracle is on the lips of a king;
    his mouth does not sin in judgment.
11 (Q)A just balance and scales are the Lord's;
    all the weights in the bag are his work.
12 It is an abomination to kings to do evil,
    for (R)the throne is established by righteousness.
13 (S)Righteous lips are the delight of a king,
    and he loves him who speaks what is right.
14 (T)A king's wrath is a messenger of death,
    and a wise man will (U)appease it.
15 (V)In the light of a king's face there is life,
    and his (W)favor is like (X)the clouds that bring the spring rain.
16 (Y)How much better to get wisdom than (Z)gold!
    To get understanding is to be chosen rather than (AA)silver.
17 The highway of the upright (AB)turns aside from evil;
    whoever guards his way preserves his life.
18 (AC)Pride goes before destruction,
    and a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 (AD)It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor
    than to (AE)divide the spoil with the proud.
20 Whoever gives thought to the word[b] (AF)will discover good,
    and blessed is he (AG)who trusts in the Lord.
21 The wise of heart is called discerning,
    and sweetness of speech (AH)increases persuasiveness.
22 Good sense is (AI)a fountain of life to him who has it,
    but the instruction of fools is folly.
23 (AJ)The heart of the wise makes his speech judicious
    and adds persuasiveness to his lips.
24 (AK)Gracious words are like (AL)a honeycomb,
    sweetness to the soul and (AM)health to the body.
25 There is a way that seems right to a man,
    but its end is the way to death.[c]
26 A worker's appetite works for him;
    his (AN)mouth urges him on.
27 (AO)A worthless man plots evil,
    and his speech[d] is like (AP)a scorching fire.
28 (AQ)A dishonest man spreads strife,
    and (AR)a whisperer (AS)separates close friends.
29 A man of violence (AT)entices his neighbor
    and leads him in a way that is not good.
30 Whoever winks his eyes plans[e] (AU)dishonest things;
    he who (AV)purses his lips brings evil to pass.
31 (AW)Gray hair is (AX)a crown of glory;
    it (AY)is gained in a righteous life.
32 (AZ)Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
    and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
33 (BA)The lot is cast into the lap,
    but its every decision is (BB)from the Lord.

16 To humans belong the plans of the heart,
    but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.(A)

2 All a person’s ways seem pure to them,(B)
    but motives are weighed(C) by the Lord.(D)

3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
    and he will establish your plans.(E)

4 The Lord works out everything to its proper end(F)—
    even the wicked for a day of disaster.(G)

5 The Lord detests all the proud of heart.(H)
    Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.(I)

6 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;
    through the fear of the Lord(J) evil is avoided.(K)

7 When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way,
    he causes their enemies to make peace(L) with them.(M)

8 Better a little with righteousness
    than much gain(N) with injustice.(O)

9 In their hearts humans plan their course,
    but the Lord establishes their steps.(P)

10 The lips of a king speak as an oracle,
    and his mouth does not betray justice.(Q)

11 Honest scales and balances belong to the Lord;
    all the weights in the bag are of his making.(R)

12 Kings detest wrongdoing,
    for a throne is established through righteousness.(S)

13 Kings take pleasure in honest lips;
    they value the one who speaks what is right.(T)

14 A king’s wrath is a messenger of death,(U)
    but the wise will appease it.(V)

15 When a king’s face brightens, it means life;(W)
    his favor is like a rain cloud in spring.(X)

16 How much better to get wisdom than gold,
    to get insight(Y) rather than silver!(Z)

24 Gracious words are a honeycomb,(AK)
    sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.(AL)

25 There is a way that appears to be right,(AM)
    but in the end it leads to death.(AN)

26 The appetite of laborers works for them;
    their hunger drives them on.

27 A scoundrel(AO) plots evil,
    and on their lips it is like a scorching fire.(AP)

28 A perverse person stirs up conflict,(AQ)
    and a gossip separates close friends.(AR)

29 A violent person entices their neighbor
    and leads them down a path that is not good.(AS)

30 Whoever winks(AT) with their eye is plotting perversity;
    whoever purses their lips is bent on evil.

31 Gray hair is a crown of splendor;(AU)
    it is attained in the way of righteousness.

32 Better a patient person than a warrior,
    one with self-control than one who takes a city.

33 The lot is cast(AV) into the lap,
    but its every decision(AW) is from the Lord.(AX)
