Song of Solomon 3
Revised Geneva Translation
3 “In my bed at night I sought him whom my soul loved. I sought him, but I did not find him.
2 “I will rise now and go around in the city, by the streets, and by the open places, and will seek him whom my soul loves. I sought him, but I did not find him.
3 “The watchmen who went around the city found me. I said, ‘Have you seen him whom my soul loves?’
4 “When I had passed a little from them, then I found him whom my soul loved. I took hold of him and did not leave him until I had brought him to my mother’s house, into her chamber who had conceived me.
5 “I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes and by the does of the field, that you neither stir up nor awaken my love until she pleases.
6 “Who is she who comes up out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and incense, and with all the spices of the merchant?
7 “Behold his bed, which is Solomon’s! Sixty strong men of the valiant men of Israel are all around it.
8 “They all handle the sword and are expert in war. Everyone has his sword upon his thigh for the fear at night.
9 “King Solomon made himself a palace from the trees of Lebanon.
10 He made its pillars of silver, its pavement of gold, and its hangings of purple, whose midst was paved with the love of the daughters of Jerusalem.
11 “Come forth, you daughters of Zion, and behold the king, Solomon, with the crown with which his mother crowned him on the day of his marriage, and on the day of the gladness of his heart!”
Cantares 3
La Palabra (Hispanoamérica)
3 En mi cama, por la noche,
busqué al amor de mi vida,
lo busqué y no lo encontré.
2 Entonces me levanté
y recorrí la ciudad;
por las calles y las plazas
busqué al amor de mi vida,
lo busqué y no lo encontré.
3 Me descubrieron los guardias
que hacían ronda en la ciudad:
“¿Han visto ustedes
al amor de mi vida?”.
4 Y a poco de pasarlos
hallé al amor de mi vida;
lo agarré y no lo solté
hasta meterlo en casa de mi madre,
en la alcoba de la que me engendró.
Amado
5 Júrenme, muchachas de Jerusalén,
por las gacelas y ciervas del campo,
que no despertarán ni turbarán
al amor hasta que él quiera.
Tercer cantar
Coro
6 ¿Qué es eso que sube del desierto
como columna de humo
con olor a incienso y mirra
y a mil aromas exóticos?
Amada
7 Esa es la litera de Salomón,
escoltada por sesenta valientes,
de lo más escogido de Israel:
8 todos van armados con espadas,
como expertos guerreros;
cada uno con su espada al flanco
ante amenazas nocturnas.
9 El rey Salomón se hizo un palanquín
con maderas del Líbano:
10 sus columnas son de plata,
su respaldo de oro,
sus asientos de púrpura
y su interior está decorado con amor
por las muchachas de Jerusalén.
11 Salgan a admirar,
muchachas de Sión,
al rey Salomón
con la corona que le ciñó su madre
el día de su boda,
un día feliz para él.
Song of Songs 3
New International Version
3 All night long on my bed
I looked(A) for the one my heart loves;
I looked for him but did not find him.
2 I will get up now and go about the city,
through its streets and squares;
I will search for the one my heart loves.
So I looked for him but did not find him.
3 The watchmen found me
as they made their rounds in the city.(B)
“Have you seen the one my heart loves?”
4 Scarcely had I passed them
when I found the one my heart loves.
I held him and would not let him go
till I had brought him to my mother’s house,(C)
to the room of the one who conceived me.(D)
5 Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you(E)
by the gazelles and by the does of the field:
Do not arouse or awaken love
until it so desires.(F)
6 Who is this coming up from the wilderness(G)
like a column of smoke,
perfumed with myrrh(H) and incense
made from all the spices(I) of the merchant?
7 Look! It is Solomon’s carriage,
escorted by sixty warriors,(J)
the noblest of Israel,
8 all of them wearing the sword,
all experienced in battle,
each with his sword at his side,
prepared for the terrors of the night.(K)
9 King Solomon made for himself the carriage;
he made it of wood from Lebanon.
10 Its posts he made of silver,
its base of gold.
Its seat was upholstered with purple,
its interior inlaid with love.
Daughters of Jerusalem, 11 come out,
and look, you daughters of Zion.(L)
Look[a] on King Solomon wearing a crown,
the crown with which his mother crowned him
on the day of his wedding,
the day his heart rejoiced.(M)
