The Chorus

13 [a]Come back, come back, O Shulammite;
Come back, come back, so that we may look at you!”

The Groom

“Why should you look at the Shulammite,
As at the (A)dance of [b](B)the two armies?

Admiration by the Groom

[c]How beautiful are your feet in sandals,
[d](C)Prince’s daughter!
The curves of your hips are like jewels,
The work of the hands of an artist.
Your navel is like a round goblet
That never lacks mixed wine;
Your belly is like a heap of wheat,
[e]Surrounded with lilies.
Your (D)two breasts are like two fawns,
Twins of a gazelle.
Your (E)neck is like a tower of ivory,
Your eyes like the pools in (F)Heshbon
By the gate of Bath-rabbim;
Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon,
Which looks toward Damascus.
Your head [f]crowns you like (G)Carmel,
And the flowing hair of your head is like purple threads;
The king is captivated by your tresses.
How (H)beautiful and how delightful you are,
[g]My love, with all your delights!

13 Return, return, O Shulammite;
Return, return, that we may look upon thee.
Why will ye look upon the Shulammite,
As upon the dance [a]of Mahanaim?

How beautiful are thy [b]feet in sandals, O prince’s daughter!
Thy rounded thighs are like jewels,
The work of the hands of a skilful workman.
Thy body is like a round goblet,
Wherein no mingled wine is wanting:
Thy waist is like a heap of wheat
Set about with lilies.
Thy two breasts are like two fawns
That are twins of a roe.
Thy neck is like the tower of ivory;
Thine eyes as the pools in Heshbon,
By the gate of Bath-rabbim;
Thy nose is like the tower of Lebanon
Which looketh toward Damascus.
Thy head upon thee is like Carmel,
And the hair of thy head like purple;
The king is held captive in the tresses thereof.
How fair and how pleasant art thou,
O love, for delights!
