^6 (A)Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but ^(B)let us watch and be ^[a]sober. ⁷ For ^(C)those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk ^(D)are drunk at night. ⁸ But let us who are of the day be sober, ^(E)putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

¹⁶ above all, taking ^(A)the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. ¹⁷ And ^(B)take the helmet of salvation, and ^(C)the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; ^18 (D)praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, ^(E)being watchful to this end with all perseverance and ^(F)supplication for all the saints—

²¹ So we labored in the work, and half of ^[a]the men held the spears from daybreak until the stars appeared. ²² At the same time I also said to the people, “Let each man and his servant stay at night in Jerusalem, that they may be our guard by night and a working party by day.”
