²⁸ And we know that for those who love God all things work together ^(A)for good,^[a] for ^(B)those who are called according to his purpose. ²⁹ For those whom he ^(C)foreknew he also ^(D)predestined ^(E)to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be ^(F)the firstborn among many brothers. ³⁰ And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also ^(G)justified, and those whom he justified he also ^(H)glorified.

God's Everlasting Love

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? ^(I)If God is for us, who can be^[b] against us? ^32 (J)He who did not spare his own Son but ^(K)gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? ³³ Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? ^(L)It is God who justifies. ^34 (M)Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—^(N)who is at the right hand of God, ^(O)who indeed is interceding for us.^{[c] 35} Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written,

³⁷ No, in all these things we are more than ^(R)conquerors through ^(S)him who loved us. ³⁸ For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

^9 (A)As the Father has loved me, ^(B)so have I loved you. Abide in my love. ^10 (C)If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as ^(D)I have kept ^(E)my Father's commandments and abide in his love. ¹¹ These things I have spoken to you, ^(F)that my joy may be in you, and that ^(G)your joy may be full.

^12 (H)“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. ^13 (I)Greater love has no one than this, ^(J)that someone lay down his life for his friends. ¹⁴ You are ^(K)my friends ^(L)if you do what I command you. ^15 (M)No longer do I call you servants,^[a] for the servant ^(N)does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for ^(O)all that I have heard from my Father ^(P)I have made known to you.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and ^(A)knock. ^(B)If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, ^(C)I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

⁸ but ^(A)God shows his love for us in that ^(B)while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ⁹ Since, therefore, ^(C)we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from ^(D)the wrath of God. ¹⁰ For if ^(E)while we were enemies ^(F)we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by ^(G)his life.

¹⁰ In that day ^(A)the root of ^(B)Jesse, who shall stand as ^(C)a signal for the peoples—of him shall the nations inquire, and his resting place shall be glorious.

^21 (A)Whoever has my commandments and ^(B)keeps them, he it is who loves me. And ^(C)he who loves me ^(D)will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and ^(E)manifest myself to him.” ^22 (F)Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it ^(G)that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” ²³ Jesus answered him, ^(H)“If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and ^(I)we will come to him and ^(J)make our home with him.
