¹⁰ For he was looking forward to the city^(A) with foundations,^(B) whose architect and builder is God.^(C)

The Living Stone and a Chosen People

⁴ As you come to him, the living Stone^(A)—rejected by humans but chosen by God^(B) and precious to him— ⁵ you also, like living stones, are being built^(C) into a spiritual house^[a](D) to be a holy priesthood,^(E) offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.^(F)

¹⁵ if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church^(A) of the living God,^(B) the pillar and foundation of the truth. ¹⁶ Beyond all question, the mystery^(C) from which true godliness^(D) springs is great:

³ Both in the section twenty cubits^[a] from the inner court and in the section opposite the pavement of the outer court, gallery^(A) faced gallery at the three levels.^(B)

¹⁶ as well as the thresholds and the narrow windows^(A) and galleries around the three of them—everything beyond and including the threshold was covered with wood. The floor, the wall up to the windows, and the windows were covered.^(B)

⁹ So he built the temple and completed it, roofing it with beams and cedar^(A) planks.
