¹¹ I adorned you with jewelry:^(A) I put bracelets^(B) on your arms and a necklace^(C) around your neck, ¹² and I put a ring on your nose,^(D) earrings^(E) on your ears and a beautiful crown^(F) on your head.^{(G) 13} So you were adorned with gold and silver; your clothes^(H) were of fine linen and costly fabric and embroidered cloth. Your food was honey, olive oil^(I) and the finest flour. You became very beautiful and rose to be a queen.^(J)

⁴ Rather, it should be that of your inner self,^(A) the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.^(B)

Confirming One’s Calling and Election

³ His divine power^(A) has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him^(B) who called us^(C) by his own glory and goodness. ⁴ Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises,^(D) so that through them you may participate in the divine nature,^(E) having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.^(F)

¹⁸ In that day^(A) the Lord will snatch away their finery: the bangles and headbands and crescent necklaces,^{(B) 19} the earrings and bracelets^(C) and veils,^{(D) 20} the headdresses^(E) and anklets and sashes, the perfume bottles and charms, ²¹ the signet rings and nose rings,^(F)

⁵⁰ So we have brought as an offering to the Lord the gold articles each of us acquired—armlets, bracelets, signet rings, earrings and necklaces—to make atonement for ourselves^(A) before the Lord.”

⁴² Then Pharaoh took his signet ring^(A) from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes^(B) of fine linen^(C) and put a gold chain around his neck.^(D)
