Santiago 1
Ang Pulong Sa Dios
1 Ako si Santiago nga alagad sa Dios ug ni Ginoong Jesu-Cristo. Nangumusta ako kaninyong tanan nga katawhan sa Dios[a] nga nagkatibulaag sa tibuok kalibotan.
Ang Pagtuo ug ang Kaalam
2 Mga kaigsoonan ko kang Cristo, pagmalipayon kamo kon moabot kaninyo ang nagkalain-lain nga mga pagsulay. 3 Kay nasayod kamo nga ang mga pagsulay sa inyong pagtuo mamunga ug pagkamainantuson. 4 Busa antosa ninyo ang tanang mga kalisdanan aron mahimo kamong matarong, hingpit, ug walay ikasaway diha kaninyo. 5 Kon aduna kaninyoy kulang sa kaalam, mangayo siya sa Dios, ug ang Dios mohatag niini kaniya nga walay pagpugong-pugong ug pagpamuyboy. 6 Apan kon mangayo kamo, kinahanglan mosalig kamo sa walay pagduhaduha nga ihatag niya ang inyong gipangayo. Kay kon magduhaduha kamo, sama kamo sa balod nga gihuyop ug gipalid sa hangin. 7-8 Ang maduhaduhaon walay kasigurohan sa iyang mga gihimo. Dili siya angay magdahom nga may madawat siya gikan sa Ginoo.
Ang Kabos ug ang Adunahan
9 Ang mga kaigsoonan diha kang Cristo nga kabos angay nga malipay sa pagpasidungog sa Dios kanila. 10 Ang mga adunahan angay usab nga malipay sa pagpaubos kanila sa Dios. Kay sama sa mga bulak sa sagbot, ang adunahan dili usab molungtad. 11 Sa naglagiting nga kainit sa adlaw malaya ang sagbot, unya malarag ang iyang bulak ug mawala ang iyang katahom. Sama usab niini ang adunahan, mamatay samtang nagkapuliki siya sa iyang buluhaton.
Ang Pagsulay ug Pagtintal
12 Bulahan ang tawo nga mobarog taliwala sa mga pagsulay, kay human niya madaog ang mga pagsulay, makadawat siya sa kinabuhi nga walay kataposan ingon nga ganti nga gisaad sa Dios alang sa mga nahigugma kaniya. 13 Kon may mga pagtintal nga moabot kanato, dili kita moingon nga gitintal kita sa Dios. Ang Dios dili matintal sa paghimo ug daotan, ug dili usab siya motintal kang bisan kinsa. 14 Matintal ang tawo kon dag-on siya sa daotan niyang tinguha. 15 Ug kon tumanon niya ang daotan niyang tinguha, ang sangpotanan niini mao ang pagpakasala; ug kon magpadayon siya sa pagpakasala, ang iyang padulngan mao ang kamatayon.
16 Busa mga minahal kong mga kaigsoonan, ayaw kamo palingla sa inyong kaugalingon. 17 Kay ang tanan nga maayo ug hingpit nga gasa naggikan man sa Dios. Siya mao ang naghimo sa tanan nga atua sa langit nga naghatag ug kahayag dinhi sa kalibotan. Ug bisan mausab ang ilang kahayag ug mabalhin ang ilang landong, ang Dios dili gayod mausab. 18 Sumala sa iyang kabubut-on, gihimo niya kita nga iyang mga anak pinaagi sa atong pag-ila sa kamatuoran, aron molabaw kita sa tanan niyang binuhat.
Ang Pagpaminaw ug Pagtuman
19 Mga minahal ko nga kaigsoonan, timan-i ninyo kini: kinahanglan andam kita sa pagpaminaw, dili magpataka ug sulti ug dili daling masuko. 20 Kay ang kasuko sa tawo dili gayod makatabang kaniya nga mahimong matarong atubangan sa Dios. 21 Busa biyai ninyo ang tanang mahugaw ug daotan nga binuhatan. Dawata ninyo nga may pagpaubos ang pulong sa Dios nga gitisok diha sa inyong mga kasingkasing, nga mao ang makaluwas kaninyo.
22 Dili kay maminaw lang kamo sa iyang mga pulong kondili tumana ninyo kini. Kon maminaw lang kamo, ug dili motuman gilimbongan ninyo ang inyong kaugalingon. 23 Si bisan kinsa nga maminaw apan dili motuman sa pulong sa Dios, sama sa tawo nga nanamin, 24 ug human motan-aw sa iyang hitsura, milakaw lang dayon ug nalimtan na dayon niya kon unsay iyang hitsura. 25 Apan ang magsusi pag-ayo sa hingpit nga Kasugoan nga maoy makahatag ug kagawasan sa mga tawo, ug dili kay maminaw lang ug unya malimot ra dayon, kondili magpadayon gayod sa pagtuman niini, panalanginan sa Dios sa iyang mga ginahimo.
26 Kon may naghuna-huna nga siya relihiyoso apan walay pagpugong sa iyang dila, ang iyang relihiyon walay pulos, ug gilimbongan lamang niya ang iyang kaugalingon. 27 Alang sa Dios nga Amahan, ang relihiyon nga putli ug walay ikasaway mao ang pagtabang sa mga ilo ug sa mga biyuda sa ilang mga kalisod, ug ang paglikay sa tanang kadaotan niini nga kalibotan.

1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

1 James, bondman of God and of [the] Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which [are] in the dispersion, greeting.
2 Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various temptations,
3 knowing that the proving of your faith works endurance.
4 But let endurance have [its] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 But if any one of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all freely and reproaches not, and it shall be given to him:
6 but let him ask in faith, nothing doubting. For he that doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed about;
7 for let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord;
8 [he is] a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
9 But let the brother of low degree glory in his elevation,
10 and the rich in his humiliation, because as [the] grass's flower he will pass away.
11 For the sun has risen with its burning heat, and has withered the grass, and its flower has fallen, and the comeliness of its look has perished: thus the rich also shall wither in his goings.
12 Blessed [is the] man who endures temptation; for, having been proved, he shall receive the crown of life, which He has promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man, being tempted, say, I am tempted of God. For God cannot be tempted by evil things, and himself tempts no one.
14 But every one is tempted, drawn away, and enticed by his own lust;
15 then lust, having conceived, gives birth to sin; but sin fully completed brings forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift comes down from above, from the Father of lights, with whom is no variation nor shadow of turning.
18 According to his own will begat he us by the word of truth, that we should be a certain first-fruits of *his* creatures.
19 So that, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
20 for man's wrath does not work God's righteousness.
21 Wherefore, laying aside all filthiness and abounding of wickedness, accept with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of [the] word and not hearers only, beguiling yourselves.
23 For if any man be a hearer of [the] word and not a doer, *he* is like to a man considering his natural face in a mirror:
24 for he has considered himself and is gone away, and straightway he has forgotten what he was like.
25 But *he* that fixes his view on [the] perfect law, that of liberty, and abides in [it], being not a forgetful hearer but a doer of [the] work, *he* shall be blessed in his doing.
26 If any one think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, this man's religion is vain.
27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
