El privilegio de morar en Sion

A los hijos de Coré. Salmo. Cántico.

87 Su cimiento está en el monte santo.

Ama Jehová las puertas de Sion

Más que todas las moradas de Jacob.

Cosas gloriosas se han dicho de ti,

Ciudad de Dios. Selah

Yo me acordaré de Rahab y de Babilonia entre los que me conocen;

He aquí Filistea y Tiro, con Etiopía;

Este nació allá.

Y de Sion se dirá: Este y aquel han nacido en ella,

Y el Altísimo mismo la establecerá.

Jehová contará al inscribir a los pueblos:

Este nació allí. Selah

Y cantores y tañedores en ella dirán:

Todas mis fuentes están en ti.

This psalm is a song that the sons of Korah wrote.

God's holy city[a]

87 The Lord built his city on the holy mountain.
The Lord loves Zion city,
more than any other place where Jacob's family lives.[b]
People say great things about you!
    You are God's own city!
Selah.
I will speak about the nations that serve God.
Rahab and Babylon are now among them,
    also Philistia, Tyre and Ethiopia.[c]
They say about themselves,
‘This man was born in Zion.’
They say this about Zion:
‘Each one of these people was born there.’
It is the Most High God who makes that city strong.
The Lord will write a list of all their names.
For the people from different nations,
he will say, ‘This person was born in Zion.’
Selah.
The singers and the musicians will say,
‘All our blessings come from you, Zion.’

Footnotes

  1. 87:1 This psalm is about Zion, God's special home. Zion was the name of the hill on which King Solomon built the temple. The writer looks ahead to a time when people from many nations will worship God. Then they will belong to God's city, as God's people. They will say, ‘I was born there.’
  2. 87:2 Jacob's family means the Israelite people.
  3. 87:4 Rahab is another name for Egypt.
